Tiller extension

"My boat is a 12-foot with a 6HP Johnson motor. To fish alone is my preference, but I want to quickly jump from one cove on the lake to another. This extension is apparently a composite material, but with a solid brass screw fitting which would appear to last for a long time. The snap extension option is critical to be
useful for different boats. A previous opinion was very encouraging (also for a 12-ft boat and 6HP Johnson outboard). I am very pleased and excited about using it this summer."

Necessary Purchase

"The extension arm works great but when it is extended to full length, the handle is outside the boat. Anyone interested in an extension arm would be better off spending the extra few bucks and get the handle with the knuckle hinge. I'm not complaining on how well this handle works. It does well for what I need it for. I'm a big man and needed the extension so that I can sit on the middle seat and be able to see in front of me. For that purpose it works well but it would be better if I bought the extension with the knuckle."

"I purchased this handle for a small 12ft jon boat to use on a 6 hp johnson motor. It works great as you can extend it if you want to set in the 2nd seat if you are fishing by yourself. The handle also has a universal joint you can use if you need to turn and control the motor from the back seat. I am very satisified with this product and would recommend it to anyone."

"But boy is it long. And it's a little heavy for my Motor Guide trolling motor handle (whcih speaks more to the motor and not the extension . . . ). I like the flexible ujoint, but my motor doesn't handle it well."

"I had a problem with it the first time I tried to use it. I called Bass Pro and they said I could just send it back for a replacement. I said I would like to talk to the factory as there may be a way I could fix the problem with out all the cost to everyone shipping it back and forth. I called the factory and after talking to them they said I wouldn't be able to fix it. They were so Proffessional and polite and thanked me for trying to fix it for them. They sent me a new one and even paid the shipping cost. Excellent experience with both companies and would certaintly buy again."

"I have an inflateable boat with a trolling motor. it is hard to get comfortable in my boat and I normaly have to turn to the side to steer. I used the helmsmate extention handle with the universal joint and I could sit looking forward for about 4 hours going down the tippecanoe river with no problems at all."
