Customer Reviews for Braided Fly Fishing Line to Leader Loop Connectors

Braided Fly Fishing Line to Leader Loop Connectors

Don't waste precious time tying a difficult nail knot when you could be fishing. These easy-to-use braided monofilament loops attach to your fly line, allowing you to quickly attach a leader. A loop-to-loop line to leader connection is essential when using a tapered leader. The orange loops are highly visible and work great when nymphing. 3 pack.

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well
"I noticed some people didn't care for this because the shrink material didn't seem to work. I've always used a small drop of super glue and have never had a problem."

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well
"Read alot of reviews about this product not working as described. A few months ago, I had never seen one of these, and while on a fishing trip in the mountains, a friend handed one to me, and took approx 3-5 mins, on the side of the river, with a lighter, to rig. I do agree, that you must be very careful, as a light will melt the line, if not done properly, but, as the title says, ...It worked great for me."

depends on what you are looking for

Advantages: don't have to tie a nail knot or perfection loop
Disadvantages: Performance, doesn't necessarily float + weight
"I used this on my 4, 5 and 6 weight. I used floating line dressing on my 6 wt and the interlocking sleeve and shrink tube slipped off completely. Weight is a consideration, dependent on your style and what you are throwing. I have gone back to using a nail knot, UV Knot Sense and a UV light (to create a smooth shell over the knot) to make my own loop at the end of the fly line. It definitely weighs less than the connectors. As far as the shrink wrap - I used my electric stove top element (getting it red hot) and gently floated the line and wrap over the element, slowly rotating it (used two forks to hold either end). This worked far better than the light bulb - hot or boiling water does not work. As far as being touted as a floating connector - it does "most of the time" but, not always. It was a good experiment. Now I just consistently use floating line dressing and my own loop and it works far better (weighs less, doesn't slip, and floats all of the time). I could see where it could work for some folks however."

Junk

Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Performance
"This item is not as other reviewers have described. I got the 6-8wt loops and tried to use on a 7wt line. The shrink tubing will not go back down and over the fly line. After over an hour trying to get this to work with the 7wt line I used some 4wt flyline just to see how it would work with that. The tubing will go down over the flyline but using a light bulb would not shrink the tubing. I even tried boiling water but with the same result.
Bass Pro Shops refunded the purchase amount, thanks Bass Pro. But stay away from this worthless product."

Save Time & Frustration

"I have tried several methods for connecting leaders to the fly line, but this is the best. Tying a knot directly to the line tends to pick up vegetation because it's never quite as smooth as you need it to be. The "nail" adds a slight weight that can affect your presentation. This is the best of all worlds. It's fast, easy to use, and gives you the best performance of all the options."

Need this on both ends

"These work very well. Slinkied onto the line I also use crazy glue and a shrink tube over the frays at the end. Higly recommend in sinking or underwater applications. Dry fly fishing is better served by knotted joint to avoid any hinges that may form. I love these and connect my backing on big reels as well to avoid any knot failures especially on tarpon or kings."
