Great for ultralight applications, this rugged 4'8" Ugly Stik® spinning rod is perfectly paired with a truly impressive Shakespeare Alpha 20 spinning reel. Equipped with a 4.9:1 gear ratio, graphite body and rotor, multi-disc drag, die-cast gears, left/right-hand retrieve, fold-down handle, selective silent anti-reverse and one ball bearing. Pre-spooled and ready to go with 110 yards of 4-lb. line.

"I baught one of these combos 4 years ago and it works great. This is my "trout rod" and it never lets me down. Nice smooth reel and a really strong rod. Well, I guess thats what Ugly Stik's are known for right? Really strong rods? Anyway, I highly recommend all trout fishermen get this combo. And I don't know what kind of line they put on this reel, but whatever it is...... its really durable! I've had the same line on since i baught the combo!!!!"

"This rod is the best I have found for flipping spinners up to the shoreline and under tree limbs from a boat. I also like the action of the rod when using spinners as it loads the spinners blades up and maintains a good presentation rather than powering through it. I have owned this rod/reel combo for several years now and only bought this new one because I accidentaly casted my old one into the lake last fall. (Bad reason to explain to the wife why you need to spend more money on fishing gear!!)"

"Bought this rod/reel combo for our 6-year old daughter who loves to fish! It is the perfect size for her to reel in the big bass she likes to catch, and she is learning how to cast the line now, from my father, who is so excited that his granddaughter can fish with him in their brook!

"I really enjoyed the Ugly Stick Rod but did not care for the cheap reel that came with it. I ended up replacing the reel with a superior Shimano reel and the combo set works great. I just didn't care for the way the reel kept hanging up upon casting as it kept closing and then the weight of my jig kept snapping the line. I'm very happy now I got the new reel on and the only reel tossed."
