"Great hooks. Not too stiff. If you pour your own crappie jigs, these are the best for the price."

Ideal for freshwater

Disadvantages: Durability
"I have used these hooks to make my own jig heads for a few months now. When I bought them I did not know much about making lead jig heads and later realized that these hooks are not designed for saltwater. They are sharp and work great on trout and other "small mouth" saltwater species. However I would not recommend them for saltwater anglers as they tend to rust, do not have a wide gap and are not made with heavy wire.
IF YOU WANT TO MAKE FRESH WATER JIG HEADS, BASS PRO HAS EVERYTHING YOU NEED. IF YOU INTEND TO MAKE SALTWATER JIG HEADS LIKE ME, GO TO DO-IT COMPANY AND BUY YOUR MOLD AND THE HOOKS YOU NEED THROUGH THEM. BASS PRO IS GREAT FOR BUYING PAINTS AND ACCESSORIES AS WELL."

Strong and sharp

"I pour my own lead head jigs and Eagle Claw hooks do the job. Easy to use and not hard on the pocketbook. Boxes (100 hooks) of different sizes allows me to pour different weighted heads and know that the quality is ample for the intended use. Sharp points with min bend on hang ups. Rust is also not a problem with proper use and handling. Small item of fishing hardware, but hook is what gets the fish to and into the boat, not the rod and reels."

"i have been making jigs for years and i use the #575 for round head jigs and #630 for bass jigs. the gold aberdeen #575's are perfect for making light crappie jigs and i believe the gold color adds an extra attractant to the fish. they also straighten a little bit to allow you to pull out of some snags (crappie fishing usually involves casting to structure) and can quickly be returned to their normal bend with a pair of small pliers.
the #630's are ideal for bass jigs and they have a good, strong shank to allow for serious hook sets. eagle claw hooks are an excellent product and i will continue to use them for years to come."
