amistad heaven

,
August 26, 2006
By bassdisaster
from Killeen, Texas
"This lure is the best deep crank on the market. I fished a tournament on Lake Amistad in February and had a limit of 38.24 lbs. I caught more big fish this year on this bait than everything else in my tackle box combined. The crome blue is all I have used and I have had at least 4 broken off since my trip to Amistad. Great lure for big bass."

Great Crank

"Same as the professional edge series which are a quality deep diving crankbait. This series of Norman cranks has a flatter finish for less flash vs. the professional edge series which is what the bass prefer sometimes."

"Norman's crankbaits are by far the best crankbaits I have ever used! The cast extremely far, they have incredible action, and they are built to last! Even the stocked hooks are super sharp and strong! There is only good things to write about these baits and I promise they will put fish in the boat for you!!!"

"My friends and I use these cranks throughout the summer to dig up the bigger fish from the depths! It's 1:00 pm. in the afternoon with bright blue, high barometer skies, and we still catch respectable size fish. If you like to throw crankbaits, don't worry about the weather, just throw these! You will catch allot of fish with these, so remember to LET THOSE FISH GO, so someone else can enjoy a big fish."

Deep Diver

"When summer comes and everything heats up, this is the bait to go to. Crank this bait out on some deep drops and hang on. Lure has proven to be durable with a nice finish. I have never broken a lip on this bait as I have on other long bill baits. Hooks are big and sharp. Every DD 22 I have used runs true out of the package."

Great lure but chinsy paint job

,
April 23, 2008
By BigBassSlayer
from San Diego, CA.
"These are good lures the only thing was the paint is a little chinsy and was already coming off in the box. I don't know if I got a bad batch but all three of the lures I ordered the paint was flaking off on the top and is getting worse with use. Oh well I'll just custom paint them."

DD22

"What else needs to be said it's a DD22. In my opinion the #1 deep diving crank on the market. Excellent action and great to pull in those lunkers during post spawn and the extreme heat of summer. Tie one on with a high speed reel and comfortable rod. Sling it you'll get bit in time and it'll probably be a big one."

Great during Hot Weather

,
April 10, 2008
By CaptainBubba

"I have used these baits for years, especially during those dog days of summer. These baits seem to get down, and stay down, where those big bass lurk during the summer months.
I tend to slow roll these baits along deepwater river channels or deep points containing structure. They seem to work well for the larger bass."

"The DD22 is one of the best deep divers of all time. I like to use it w/10 to 12 pound line on a seven foot rod to really get it down there."

Best deep water lure!

,
January 5, 2008
By NJBass
from New Jersey
"I use the 22 exclusively for cranking in deep water, usually 15 or more feet. The wide wobble drive bass crazy, they just can't seem to not take it if they see it. This also creates a lot of water displacement, meaning vibrations. This lets the bass hone in on the bait in murkier/deeper water. The rattles also help the bass find it. I recommend fishing it on the bottom in deep water, retrieving it (kicking up dirt), pausing it ocassionally for .5-3 seconds, letting it rise a little, then starting the retrieve again. Any bass near it will absolutely hammer this bait. It is also great for suspended bass. If they are suspending in about 10-13 feet of water (FOW), try using heavier monofilament to keep it off the bottom. A steady retrieve with sudden stops imitates dying shad very well. But for regular cranking near the bottom, I use 15lb. fluorocarbon line, which is more dense than standard monofilament, so it helps the bait get deeper and quicker. I recommend a fiberglass rod so you have time for the bass to load up and really take the lure. Also, a slower speed baitcasting reel will be better, it has more power, and slowing down is usually better for cranking. Plus, it is easier to speed up than slow down. I use a G. Loomis 7'6" MH crankbait rod, and one St. Croix Legend Tournament LTBC70MHM 7' MH rod, both with Shimano Curado D's in 5:1, although I think the longer rod can cast much farther out and can handle larger baits. I recommend changing the factory hooks to Mustad Short-shank triple grip hook. Also, my favorite colors are 01,02, and 41 (chrome/black, chrome/blue, and smokey joe). Good luck."
