great for narrow creeks

Disadvantages: buy a hard case
"In my neck of the woods the creeks and streams are narrow and tight. This 7'6" rod was perfect to help an amateur like my self from getting snagged in the over hanging vegetation. Pretty awesome product. With in 30 minutes snagged me bout 3 panfish in early Jan. So much easier to cast than my clunky 9' hand me down form grandpa"

"The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I expected the backing, fly line and leader to be on the reel already. I had to learn how to do this myself, which took some time and prevented me from practice casting right away. Not a big problem though because I learned some things."

"Fist fish on the Hobbs fly reel and rod was a 24" Laker and the rod handled the fish on auto! Rod is built to catch big fish! I felt every twist, turn and tug, it was awesome.
For the price it's a great fly reel and rod combo.

Great Value

"I purchased this rod along with a matching reel approximately three years ago. I have used it several times on Michigan trout and salmon streams and I love the way it handles. I am not an expert fly fisherman but I wanted a rod and reel combo that was easy to use in tight areas. This item fit the bill. I took it with me to Seattle area this last fall. My son and I were fishing in the mountains just outside Seattle when he asked me if he could try my rod and reel. That was the last time I saw them the rest of the day. He liked it so much, I bought him an exact combo set for Christmas. Now maybe I can use my own rod and reel the next time we fish together. I know that a lot of individuals believe they have to spend a lot of money for a fly rod and reel, but this one performs very well and is a great value. Good Fishing to you."

Hobbs Creek Fly Rod

Advantages: Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: doesn't come with hard case
"Bought a 9', 8 wt, 4 piece Hobbs Creek fly rod recently. This is my first Bass Pro branded rod, and I like it very much. Nicely finished, rich dark brown color, comfortable handle and butt. The butt unscrews so you can store the rod in a 9' hard case, sold separately.
I'm having good success casting with this rod, better so far than my 5, 6, and 7 weights, none of which are Bass Pro products. I'm a beginner fly fisher, after 58 years using spinning and baitcasting methods. Old dog having fun learning new tricks.
This is a very good value for an entry level rod.

Great Rod

"This rod is great if beginers and it is also a good rod for pro's alike. It is great for bass, Rainbows, and most other lake fish. I have had it out every weekend since I bought it and it is holding up well, no issues what so ever. This rod is a great started rod for kids as well, easy to handle. If you have a good line spooled on you can cast it a mile."

"I've used all ranges of fly rods from Cheap to very expensive. This particular one is my favorite. This is the second one the I have purchased. The only problem that I had with the first one, is that it is not very durable when it got ran over by several cars."

Very Long Rod

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Value for money
"I liked the balance and action of this rod. It hands well, even in wind. I had a whole day with no wind snags or tangles. I would like to say that it is because of my technique but that would be a lie. It handled everything well. I was able to use it with reletive ease. the only downside witht his two peice rod was the length when tacken apart, still over 4'. A little difficult to get into and out of smaller cars. But action was great."

Great so far

"I recently bought this rod in 7'6" 4wt 4 piece to use on some of the smaller native trout streams in southern WV. I chose the 7'6" because I usually fish on smaller streams with a lot of canopy covering them.
I have only tried this once so far, for about an hour on a larger stream (I was eager to use it and stopped there on my way home from work one evening), Even on the larger stream, I was able to easily reach the other side with ease. The lightweight design made casting very comfortable and the crisp action really let me punch through the wind and place my fly accurately and cleanly on the water.
And the rod is beautiful."

"Even though I'm fairly new at Flyfishing I have used several different rods from friends. From Sage to Bluelight specials however I wish I would have tried this first. I'm watching the line forget feel and it still doesn't load. Buyers remorse is all I can say"

"I bought the rod to go along with my new G. Loomis reel. Match made in heaven. This rod has brought in almost 100 trout since I bought it about 4 months ago. It is continually dependable, easy to break down and put together as well as travel with. I have the 5wt, 2-piece. It has amazing action and great casting range. I'm saving up now for my next one, an 8wt for bass and steelhead. I would highly recommend this to anyone."

Good For Begginer or Pro

,

"Im fairly new at fly fishing and have had other rods before. Just the cheapies which worked fine for the time being. Then I recently got this White River Hobbs Creek and it is amazing. I have the 9 foot one. The sensitivity is just right and it can make an ok caster feel like a pro. It is super light and fatigue is'nt an issue with this pole. If you have a tight budget or just want a good fly rod I highly recommend this pole."
