"This isn't my first time using the Bayou Boggie. They have always been my favorite lures. But, they have been increasingly hard to find in any of the stores. I was happy to be able to find them at Bass Pro. This lure does what it says and more. They bass are very attracted to them and I get a hit nine times out of ten. Buy them with confidence!"

Advantages: Performs well
Disadvantages: Durability
"i have always liked this plug ever since i started using it back in 1971. the only problem i'm having with the new one is the back hook pulls of the plug after a few fish and i don't know why. i have had to replace one already. it's like the hole is stripped out."

Bayou Boogie

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"When I was growing up my dad always used the the Bayou Boogie when we were bass and hybrid fishing. After I grew up and got into fishing again I tried many different lures that were ok but once I found the Bayou Boogie and started using it again I slap tore up the fish. Striper, bass, and even caught several Bream while bass fishing. It is a great lure."

dependable late winter lure

,
April 21, 2009
By Hmax
from Indiana
Advantages: Performs well, Style/Design
"A relative has sworn by the Bayou Boogie for the last 20 years or so. He starts fishing farm ponds in February here in southern Indiana. He only uses a Bayou Boogie in late winter. Every large bass he catches in late winter is on the Bayou Boogie. In March of this year he caught a 6 1/4#. When he told me I just commented..."Bayou Boogie?" He grinned and asked "what else?" The only downside is that many years ago he went direct to the company and bought a lifetime supply of a larger size, no longer available. He swears that size does make a difference in this lure."

Steady Producer

,
March 6, 2008
By dleuty
from Euless, TX
"This is one of those lures that has been and will continue to be around for years to come. It has been a steady producer for me for over 20 years on several Texas lakes, including, PK, Texoma, Whitney, Lewisville, Ray Roberts, Grapevine, and Tawakoni.
The shad model has been an excellent utility lure for black bass, yellow bass, stripers and sandies. The perch model is an excellent producer of black bass in August and September.
It is one of the lures in its price range that comes from the factory with good, reliable, sharp hooks.
You will always find several of each model in my boat in case of losses. I would never consider leaving the dock without these in my arsenal."

A Family Lure

,
November 22, 2007
By Tole
from Texas
"I just wanna say thanx to Bass Pro Shop for carrying such a good product. You guys are the only retailers I know of that carry the Bayou Boogie. Just a little history lesson, I use the Boogie, My Dad uses the Boogie, and My Grandpa used them before he passed away. This is an awesome crankbait. We use them to troll for Sandbass, Stripers, and Black Bass. True story, a friend got in my Dad's boat with his Rat-L-traps and told my Dad he was gonna outfish him. My Dad just grinned. When, they went back to dock, his buddy wasn't smiling cause he had to eat his words. That night, the same fellow ordered 2 of every color. I love rat-l-traps too, but there is something about the wobble of this lure., plus I think it runs a little deeper. Buy some, if you don't like them, I'll buy them from you."

Boogie Fever

,
September 4, 2007
By Rotorhead
from North Central Texas
"A versatile tool that has been a consistent producer around the breakwater barriers near marinas and boat docks, as well as,retrieving just above a stand of "bass grass".
The shad and chrome/black models have been most productive in the spring, while the perch and bass models are at their best in the bathwater warm waters of central Texas lakes in August and September.
This lure may be worked over a wide range of depths and retrieval speeds. One of the most effective for this angler has been to use a slow retrieval with a periodic twitch of the rod tip, producing a flashy, darting maneuver.
Try it. You'll soon find that it will earn a spot in the top tray of your tackle box

Bayou Boogie Mania

"My father and I used the Boogie years before the other vibrating, lipless lures hit the market. Rippping the lure across the water before the Milfoil comes to the top at Guntersville Lake is highly effective.
Also a great salt water lure. Used the gray model to catch (and release) over 100 trout in no time at Clearwater Beach Big Pier 60."

"I got my Heddon Bayou a year ago,in the first week i noticed it caught fish.I like to use a steady retrieve with twitches for action.I worked it really slow once and caught a catfish.I love that downward action.I own a black spoted Bayou Boogie.the largest bass i caught on it was about 7 pounds. All in all it's the best bass lure out there.GOD BLESS"

best fish catcher in my arsenal

"I have used the same bayou boogie that I bought more than 20 years ago and continue to catch more fish with it than any other lure I own. Simply cast and retrieve, the lure does the rest.Whether it's bright and sunny or cloudy or night time, this lure has done me proud. I will definately use it as long as I am able to fish.It works well in all water conditions- clear , stained , or flat out muddy. Big water or small farm ponds, bass simply " TEAR IT UP".I would urge all fishermen to give it a try."
