Great Reel

,
February 20, 2012
By ky1997le
from VA, USA
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: makes grinding sounds
"My dad got this reel for me a year and a half ago and i have to say this is one of the best reels that i have used the reason i gave it a 4 star review is that the spool button does not function properly sometimes but very rarely. when it happens the button either does not go all the way down or when you engage the reel the button will not come all the way up. when the button does not go all the way down it causes it to make a grinding sound when i cast. when the button does not come all the way up it lets the handle slip. every thing else works great esp the drag it is very smooth and strong. it does not backlash very much only if you fling it right into the ground once u get it dialed in."

ok reel for the price

,
January 25, 2012
By RAVEN87
from southern Ohio
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Value for money
Disadvantages: a bit of a buzzing sound when casting
"This reel is ok for beginners, it does have a bit of a "buzz" when casting, but that may be due to the way the spool is designed. But if you want the same reel under the Bass Pro name, and no casting "buzz" get the Bass Pro Shops Nitro Tournament Z, these two reels are identical, just a little different color, no buzz when casting it, and the BPS Nitro Z is now $20 cheaper ($59.99) than the Browning. Compare the two and try to find a difference other than cosmedic and the name. I have both reels, bought the BPS from a friend used and the Browning from a friend unused, and the BPS is the better of the two.....for some odd reason."

I dont think so

Disadvantages: Performance, Durability
"used this real for about an hour and it started sticking. Started making a loud buzzing noise upon casting. Once you started reeling it in the reel would stick, and if you shook the reel it would start operating smoothly again. I will be returning this reel and exchanging it for another reel."

Great reel for swimbaits

,
June 25, 2011
By Bassgal
from Escondido, Ca
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"I bought the wide spool version of the Citori to put on a heavy swimbait (Dobyns 806H) rod. It was quick to set up the casting brakes on and casts were really long, even when I used a light lure on it. Pretty nice for a large, low profile reel. Time will tell, but so far I can't find anything to complain about on it. I might just have to try one of the smaller ones as well."

My fist low profile baitcaster

,
June 7, 2011
By havenone
from NJ
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"I first got into BASS in 1974 and fished mainly ABU's.Lew's and Quantom round reels. I wanted to upgrade to the newer low profile style and to catch up with the technology of today's features but I didn't want to break the bank . I chose the Citori over other reels in its class first by its bearing content and gear ratio, and second by its price. In the past, I have had High Speed reels with a 6.2:1 ratio and didn't like the way they felt on retrieve. They had the speed but, not the power.I chose the lowest ratio Citori offered, I think its 4.8:1. I use it for cranks and spinner baits. The value is so great that for the price of the other high end reels, you can get all the gear ratios of the Citori line and still be saving money. And thats my plan, just waiting fora B.P.S. sale to save more .
The reel spool starts quickly and even allowed me to cast a 4' worm on a 1/16 oz. Slider head to my amazement spooled with 17# test Excalibur (old stuff I had laying around) and the reels only rated to use 12# test. I'm an old bass'er that doesn't get to fish as off ten as I use to, and these reels serve the purpose their intended for.

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, 18 pound drag
"This new design is phenominal. Smooth as silk and casts like a rocket. The 18 pounds of drag is an added bonus especially fishing in the thickest of jungles on the BIG "O". For the money you can not do better."

WILL BE RETURNING THEM THIS WEEKEND

,
April 6, 2011
By RangerZ21225
from VA
Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Performance
"I ordered two of them online when they were on sale for $69.95. I think I know why they were on sale. One of them, right out of the box, made a funny noise every time I made a cast. Both are very difficult to adjust to avoid backlashes and I've been tournament fishing for 16 years. Now I suppose it's possible that because I use 17 lb Trilene 100% fluoro, the stiffness could have something to do with the problem but I practically have to have the brakes and tension knob locked down to cast w/o a backlash and that's with a 3/8 oz lure. I'll be returning them to the Richmond BPS this weekend. I wouldn't give a dime for another one."

Very Good Reel

,
March 17, 2011
By KING4
from Mount Vernon, IL
"This is a very good overall reel and is very smooth. it has good casting distance and smooth drag. The only thing i don't like about the reel is that after you cast the casting button will get stuck half way and as you reel it will make a strange clicking noise, this can be easily fixed easily by pulling the button up and doesn't happen all the time but it does get kinda annoying"

Great purchase

,
March 11, 2011
By Reel1
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, ergonomics
"I recently purchased this reel based on reviews by others who had used it. I wholeheartedly concur with their positive comments. I used it for three days of bass fishing in a strong wind and it performed perfectly. I own several Curados that cost three times as much and I would compare this one favorably to them. I intend to buy more of these reels. It is light and compact and will throw a Rattletrap a mile. It is also very smooth and has a great drag system."

browning citori

,
March 11, 2011
By bassreaper123
from minnesota
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money
Disadvantages: Durability
"Nice smooth reel, cast really good don't even need to thumb the spool when it lands if set right. Other than that haven't tried the reel in water because there's only ice where I live right now. But overall I would pick the revo s over this anyday if the citori was not on sale.
But for the price that it was when I bought it I don't regret it..... good reel browing
The only reason I gave it four star was because the reel at times when I engage it doesn't engage all the way feels funny at times.

Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Value for money
Disadvantages: just wondering if release will hold up
"When I received this reel was very happy with it looks good its smooth.. I went out side with a practice lure and it casts great.... again it is smooth on the return but then the release mechanism would not re engage unless you manually re engauged it so I did took a few more casts and same thing it wouldn't re engage .....so I returned it and the bass pro associate couldn't duplicate the issue said I can't garentee that new one wouldn't be any better(what a thing to tell a customer)....gave me a hard time about taking my line off and putting it on my exchanged reel !! wasn't sure if this reel would perform but it has haven't had the same issue but release mechanism still feels funny to me"

Seems good so far

,
March 3, 2011
By Campo32
from Toronto, Ontario
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Quality
"I have never used a baitcaster but from what I have seen so far, the Citori looks like a well built reel. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but once the snow is gone I will be out turning some heads as I cast into the middle of the street.
The reel is relatively silent while retreiving and seems light enough that it wouldn't affect the balance of the rod. For a beginner reel I think this will be a good choice especially since it was on sale. I have been shopping around for a while now and most of the other reels in this price range felt cheap and were a bit heavier."

Great reel

,
March 2, 2011
By TheZooman
from Oakdale, LA
Advantages: Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: noisey, not as smooth as other same price reels
"I like this reel, it casts far, It has a couple things that are minor but I still think it recieves 5 stars. It is a little noisey due to the centrifical brake, also not having the dual braking system, like the midas, its a little harder to "fine tune" your casts. Which basically means its going to birdnest in medium wind conditions. Not bad birdnesting but even so it casts a mile for a 100 dollar reel. Also it's not as smooth as higher end reels but as i said before it deserves 5 stars for the quality vs price. Pick one up on sale and you've really got a bargain."
