Disadvantages: Performance, Quality, falls off!
"I bought this and the se 300 sport. It was a pain in the rear to install. had it securely tightened and within ten minutes my 260 hp boat got it loose and lost the clip and the stabilizer. Not happy. You live and you learn i guess. I would never buy this again. waste of over a hundred bucks. BOOOOO!"

Disadvantages: Difficult to use
"Bought the SE 300 because you could get this with it. Instructions are generic and a bit vague as a consequence of applying to many different motors. Don't install over water. Found it difficult to tighten the last two rear nuts with any of my various wrenches or sockets due to an interference on my Alpha 1 drive.
Overall though, once installed everything seem to work very well. Hydrofoil is solidly attached. My 190 merc has not been able to shake it loose. I would give it 4 or 5 stars if the instructions were clearer for my drive."

"Easy no sweat way to attach the 200 or 300 Sport hydrofoil. No drilling of the cavitation plate, easy to follow instruction. The Hydrofoil is a great addition to my boat, on plane quickly with great gas milage. I would recommend this clip and hydrofoilt o anyone looking to improve boat performance."

"I am glad I bought this with my SE 300 so I would not have to drill holes in the cavitation plate. The directions were somewhat incomplete. There seemed to be steps missing such as the placement of the 4 alignment bolts prior to attaching the clip together on the plate causing to have to take it apart again."

"I purchased the sportclip because I didn't want to drill holes in my cavitation plate. The product works just as-advertised and I cannot blame the manufacturer or BassPro for my displeasure. The sportclip does produce significant drag and, therefore, isn't worth the cost to not drill four small holes in the motor. Chances are that if the hydrofoil works for your boat, you'll leave it on for the life of the motor and drilling those holes mean nothing.
In my case, I learned a $50 lesson!"

"The SE Sport Hydrofoil Clip is advertised to fit most motors. Then there are the listed exceptions. Three of those exceptions are the Merc 30, 40, & 50 HP 4-stroke motors. Clip wiil not fit Merc 25 HP 4-stroke either. This exception should have been listed along with the other Merc 4-strokes."

"I Purchased the Sport Clip and it was real easy to put on. I also purchased the SE 300 Hydrofoil. The only problem I had was while installing the clip I noticed it was cracked at the back. Don't know if it was cracked during shipping or not. I took it back and got a new one and it works good on my 115 Mairner motor. Best thing you can get,if you don't get a defective one. I like it because you don't need to drill any holes on your motor."

"I just bought one of these for my Alpha 1 Drive. It is a poor "NO DRILL DESIGN" In order to mount it I would have to GRIND and Take off my Trim Tab. I will be returning this product. I did buy a Sport 300 Hydrofoil clip and will be drilling holes for that. This is a waste of $50....."

"I just purchased the sport clip. After opening it and reading the instructions, I see that it does not fit "all outboards and stern drives except volvo" as advertised on the packaging. The instructions state "The Sport Clip should not be used on outboards not equipped with a trim tab or anode on the bottom of the cavitation plate".
I have a 2003 Johnson 9.9 hp (a very common outboard) that does not have the anode or trim tab on the bottom of the cavitation plate.
This may be a good product if you can install it, but beware the misleading advertising on the package.

"I decided to try out the Sport Clip and the SE Sport 300. I had read great things about the Sport hydrofoil and I really didn’t want to drill holes in my Alpha one outdrive. My only problem with the clip is that it took longer to install than I was lead to believe from the package. But, the enclosed instructions were good- also written in Spanish. There is no loss of speed and the performance is incredible—very quick planing and no more rocking from front to back. The clip and the sport are rock solid together. They made a big improvement in the handling of my 19 foot Bayliner. The Sport Clip is a great product if you don’t want 4 holes in your motor."

"I have used this hydrofoil on two different bass boats and found it to be excellent for increased speed and more importantly boat handling and stability. The foil completely changed the hole shoot on both my Astoglass and my Stratos. A close friend recommended the new clip to me even though I already had drilled hole for the Sport hydrofoil.
To my surprise, the clip moved the hydrofoil backwards on the motor and improved the hole shoot even more and also, it increased the speed and further enhanced the boats handling especially from the mid range to the over 60 mph .range. With these two products, the Stratos will make 90 degree turns above 60 mph and it stays on plane and the steering is solid.
Before installing these products, I had a competitors hydrofoil on my boat and the Stingray doesn't hold a candle to these products."

"Ths is a piece of garbage. It installs easy enough with the SE Spoort 300, but it causes excessive drag and vibration. Lost 10 mph with this installation. My advice, unless you are willing to drill your cavitation plate to install your hydrofoil, don't buy one. This product defeats the purpose of having a hydrofoil."
