"I've had mine for about 3 years. The electric steering took some getting used to. My old mechanically steered motor gave me feedback to my foot as to the position of the motor. Not so with electric steering, but now that I've gotten used to it I would not go back.
The autopilot is a Godsend. I don't know how I ever got along without it. It requires practice though, especially in high winds, but with some experience I can make the boat follow a shoreline even in the strongest of crosswinds. I can make the boat hover (with practice) over a point with the bow pointed into the wind or into a current. This motor certainly allows for a lot more fishing time and a lot less motor adjustment.
I find the stow and deploy a bit cumbersome. It is important to keep the shaft well lubricated with a light grease.
The momentary switch on the foot pedal has become intermittant and sometimes does not work. I have ordered a replacement.
The continuously variable power setting is indeed a fine feature, however the setting markers (black on black) are hard to see in low light. Painting the markers white with touch up paint helps a lot. If I had designed this pedal, I would have incorporated this.
The composite shaft is tough and has hit more than a few stumps and plowed into the shallow bottom without damage.
The enclosed sonor transducer works well and is good match to my Eagle Optima.
The motor delivers plenty of power and the battery lasts all day long even in the most windy conditions.
I would recommend this motor highly and would certainly buy another. I'm thinking about putting one on my pontoon."

"I purchased one last year for my fathers boat with the Auto Pilot And Universal sonar. Loved it so much I just got one for my boat. Add the copilot and it doesn't get any better.
Cons: pedal awkward at times, copilot solves that problem Release mechanism can be awkward."
