"I have to start off by saying that I have started getting serious about my fishing in the past two years. I plan to start fishing some BFL tournaments in the next year and I decided to upgrade all of tackle and I have found that these reels are great for the money. I use these reels for all of my Crankbait/ lipless baits and even use the burner series for my spinnerbait and plastics. The only reason I didn't give them a five is beacuse I have only been using them for about 6 mos and I am unsure how they will hold up over time. But so far I have no complaints. I will say the first thing you need to do is lubricate the reel before the first use. I used mine a couple of times without extra lube and it was ok...but after I added some hotsauce to it it seemed to really come alive!!! If you are looking for quality reel with out spending a couple of hundred bucks these are the ones to look very closely at."

"ok so i bought the KVD baitcast reel, and i was a little worried that it wouldn't be up to pair with some of the other reels that i have in my collection. "i have just purchased this reel and put it on the rod and the first cast (in the yard for practice) dog would not lift up the thumb bar.all though this reel is great for flipping jigs and cast great 5/10 casts thumb bar would not lift up......disappointed because this reel is not worth 109.99"

"I dont own the reel but i used my friends this past week (his has the 7,0,1 burner gears) and it cast great and it reels so smoth. He has it on a 6 ft 6 inch medium action berkley lightning rod shock series and he has berkley 8lb firelin on it and it is the best combo i have ever fished with. We were throwing everything from crank baits to spinners and soft baits and although it reels fast it is still really nice when using crank baits and working it slow because of how smoth it is. it reeled in big bass easy and once you get the weight setting right you can cast it anywhere you need. and it is also very comfortable in your hand and you can cast light lures and heavy lures. I personally own a quantum code and yes they are very alike but i prefer this one and nest week im going to get it in the exacy cambo i was using it on last week."

"I have been fishing the KV600CX for a while now and have landed several bass ranging from 1 to 6lbs on it and even a 7 lb catfish one time. It is pretty smooth and fast retrieval. The paint does seem to be coming off pretty fast for me not having this for that long but other than that no complaints."

"I received a $150 gift certificate for Father's Day and promptly dropped it on this reel and a coffee jig kit and headed out to my local lake. I was immediately impressed by the smoothness of this reel. I had it spooled with 30lb braided line and after a few quick adjustments, I was able to cast bird's nest free for hours. I got the "burner" version and the silky smooth retrieve just eats up line! I paired it with a 7' ft md/hvy Berkeley Lightning Rod and it is my favorite combo. Best Father's Day Gift ever!"

"so far this is the best reel i have had the chance to use and own. it is a very smooth and balanced reel. i have not played with the flippin switch yet. but good quality, decent weight. i love it i have it in a 6:3.1 ratio. i am thinking about buying one in each ratio. if you can afford a few extra $$$ its more than worth it in gold"

"Bought this reel last week to put on my Kistler Rod. I wanted the 6:3 but all Bass Pro had in stock was the 7:0. I was a little aprehensive purchasing the burner but I am glad I did. I used it mostly this past weekend fishing the Skeeter Tournament....wow...I could outcast any of my other Shimano and Abu Garcia reels. The retrieve felt silky smove. I did have an adjustment period of not reeling as fast as I used too; which ment less wear and tear on me for reeling the whole weekend. Most likely will be heading back to get another one this week. Highy recomended!"

Not as good as last year's model,May 27, 2009

"I purchased this reel during the sale in December but did not use it until the regular season opened in May. I wanted to use the reel as my goto crankin reel (combined with Daiwa Light & Tough trigger rod). First day on the water, if I set the cast control too loose it was birdnest city. If I set it too tight, I got no distance. But the retrieve was real smooth. I tried the reel again and same results. So I took the reel into the Bass Pro Shop near my family. When I presented the reel to the customer service person, she said 'oh yeah, we're getting alot of these reels back for exchange.' I attempted to just get another copy of the reel, but the thumb bar began sticking on the reel in the store. So I exchanged the reel for a Bass Pro Shop Pro Qualifier model reel. I later found out that the 2008 model is made of cheaper materials (internally there are some plastic in the gears) than the 2007 model I heard so much about. These reels aren't very good for the price. I use Quantum Energy Pt reels mostly and these are just great. the only regret I have is that I wish the reel performed better overall, like the excellent retrieve it has."

"So far I have 4 of these KVD reels and they are the best I've ever used!!! They outcast my Chronarchs and are far easier to adjust with the brake settings on the outside. I use 'em with braid and fluorocarbon and have neve had a problem. I highly recommend them to any angler."

"I have always hesitated before buying a signature series reel, but am thrilled that I made the decision for this reel. I purchased the 7.0:1 gear ratio. The casting distance is awesome! It is extremely smooth operating and I can cast it all day. I own three other brands of reels and have wished they were all this brand in different gear ratios for different applications.
