You get what you pay for!!,October 22, 2009

"While I fished a lot when I was younger, 40 Plus years ago, I really have just started getting serious about bass fishing this past year. I bought a St. Croix Premier ultra light for pan fish early last spring and immediately realized technology has significantly changed rods. After purchasing a used boat, I started looking for a good rod that could be used for most types of bass fishing. I was learning from a friend who likes to use top water lures and he suggested I get a rod with plenty of back bone. Well, I came across a St. Croix Legend tournament 7' Slop and Frog on sale. I knew it was plenty stiff for all around but I couldn't put it down. It just felt and looked great in my hands. I have since learned it may have not been the best choice for an all around rod, but it certainly is a sensitive and great rod. In my opinion, it does work great for quickly bring buzz baits back to the surface, and keeps spinner baits moving. It is extremely sensitive and I can feel everything with it and 30lb. Power Pro, but it is extremely stiff and fast and I do seem to miss hook sets fishing worms. Still learning, but I love the rod, and have purchased a second new Tournamant MH rod which I have not been able to fish yet. Dying to try it, but wind and cold weather set in early in NW Ohio, and Southern MI this fall. Just have not been able to get on the water with all the wind. In my (rookie) opinion, everyone should try this rod!!! I don't believe you will be disappointed!!"

Best Bargain for the Buck!!!!!,July 31, 2009
By Zman68from Charlotte NC
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"I have been using St. Croix for years....I typically trout fish and just bought a place with a 4 acre lake off my deck. So I went to BPS and could not decide, so I ended up getting a Shimano Curado with a G. Loomis Bronzeback...Got it home, put Power pro braid on and went fishing...It was pleasant but to me, was not worth 400 bucks. I go back and get a Abu Zevo STX and this St. Croix Legend...ALL I can say is WOW!!!!!!! The reel did not birds nest at all after I got it set and the rod (i got the 7 ft) pulled out 4-5 pound bass like they was minows....Incredible feel, very sensitive and if you try some Senko's, you can feel them on the bottom...The rod is super light....I highly recommend this setup...I am thinking of getting the Abu Zevo premier, its quite a bit lighter....Enjoy!"

Legendary,May 30, 2009
By Andrew1979from Wisconsin
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design
"This is hands down the best rod I have ever purchased. I own top end rods from several different manufacturers and this my go to rod. I have owned the top water rod for over a year now and can't wait to add more rods from this series to my cillection. The split handles on theese rods aloong with the lightweight blank allow me to feel even the softest bites."

Greatest Rod Made,May 14, 2009
By OHMattfrom Ohio
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"I own several high end rods from loomis falcon and others. I bought a legend last year and quickly started replacing all my casting and spinning rods with legends after only a couple of uses. It is by far the lightest and most sensitive rod I have ever used plus its cheaper that my loomis imx's are. I would highly recommend this rod to anyone espically for worm and more sensitive style fishing. It casts lighter lures a mile with less effort. Support America by buying American made products. St Croix Legend made in America."

very nice line of rods!,May 3, 2009
By PABassAssassinfrom Pittsburgh, Pa
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design Disadvantages: maybe slightly over priced for some
"The SCLT rods are very nice to fish! The 6'3spinnerbait and the 6'9dropshot are my favorite, and the two I like the most in the group. They are all very sensitive rods though! I also have the 7'3carolina and 7'0teaser rods and have used almost all the others and will get them all in time."

Lightweight and Heavy Duty,March 28, 2009
By bpsmattfrom Westminster, CO
"I purchased the 7'0" M wanting to try a lighter rod for my baitcasting than i usually do. I was torn between this and the shimano cumara (i found this rod a little cheaper and decided to go with it). I paired this rod with a shimano chronarch 51mg. I was hoping to throw soft plastics, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, and light cranks. This rod is perfect for all those applications. It also works for throwing weightless creature baits and senkos and you can still get the distance out of them. It will throw deep diving cranks, but it beats you up a little bit. I would go with a MH rod for this application. I have caught plenty of fish up to 5lbs on this with no problem, and it felt like it could handle more easily. I've even found that it casts and reels 1/2-3/4 oz. lipless crankbaits amazingly. The rod is very lightweight compared to other rods. It is also very, very sensitive. Fishing soft plastics on the bottom waiting for a tentative bite, you can feel everything. The only downside to this whole rod is that I wish st. croix would expose more of the rod blank so that i can feel it with two fingers instead of one (would feel more comfortable in my opinion). Pick one up, you'll see that it is a great purchase."

Great rods,March 18, 2009
By RBKINGfrom Ontario, Canada
"Wow, these rods are fantastic...I am a firm believer in having the right tool for the right job, and St. Croix has really out done themselves with this line of Legend rods. There are so many lengths and actions to choose from to optimize your success on the water. The most important thing with any purchase is the warranty, St. Croix has the best warranty system in the business!!!!!! Buy two or three different rods this year and you will be more than impressed with your purchases, Cheers!"

Great Rod,March 8, 2009
By Doserfrom Winchester, TN
"My worm and jig rod came in last week and I was dieing to try it. I found the it light and extremely sensitive. My first fish with this rod was a 20 inch, 3 lb and 11 oz small mouth. Besides a great worm rod, it also handled crankbaits quite well. I'm convinced, this rod is worth the money."

caught with this rod 5 pounds
"I bought the 6 foot 6 inch med heavy worm rod. This is my go to rod for baits over ½ ounce. I use this at Lake Fork in Texas and with 30lb braid. This thing has so much power and bone jarring hook sets. I caught many in the 5 pound and higher range and this rod just handles them. I would recommend it to anyone who fishes on a regular basis. If u fish just sometimes go with a cheaper rod. I normally use a JM Elite Series rod but it just does not seem to do well with heavier baits, but it is great for the lighter ones. So I switch between the two everyday I fish. I will by again if something happens to mine. Also it just looks good."

Excellent rod (6'3" Sniper Spinnerbait),March 12, 2008
By DennisHPfrom South Florida
"Bought this rod a few weeks ago. I've fished it a few times since buying it and really love it. I've been leaning more towards the shorter rods now for accuracy, and this rod fits the bill quite nicely. It can handle baits down to 1/4 oz and a little less with no problem. The rod loads nicely when you cast and is exceptionally sensitive. You can feel every pulse of the spinnerbait or wobble of your crankbait. The fast tip lets you set the hook quickly and the rod has enough backbone to move fish around pertty well too. I've fished some plastic with this rod and was really impressed with it's sensitivity when dragging the worm or lizard across the bottom. It may be marketed as a technique specific rod..but it is much more versatile than you'd expect.
This rod fits somewhere between the Loomis CR722 and CR723 for power but leans more towards the CR723 as far as power goes.
I have both the split grip model and the full cork handle and I like they both equally well. Fit, finish and details are first class on the Legend Tournament rods.
St Croix builds a great rod and backs them with a limited lifetime warranty.......these are well worth the money."

Very good rod...,March 4, 2008
By Marconifrom Las Vegas, NV
"I'm very happy with this product St.Croix 7' 12-20 LB Med-Heavy... I've got two Catfish of 6.9 lb each already with it... They told me that this rod come with ''Lifetime warranty'' which made me more happy... Very nice job all over... very smooth rod... Anybody that will decide to buy one of those St.Croix, look for ''IPC'' inscription on it... Good look..."

Great rods,December 30, 2007
By Feckfrom VA
"OK, so I'm from 40 miles from the factory in Park Falls so I may be a bit biased, but I love these rods. They are light and sensitive and comfortable in the hand all day. I swapped from Avid casting rods to the Legend Tournament series due to the shape of the grip; the Avid has a palm swell that cramps my hand after a while, the LT rods do not have the same swell and are more comfortable. The guides and reel seats are top quality for the price range. I would not recommend these rods for crankbaits, even the slow versions - they are a bit too fast. They are great for soft plastics and any other applications where you want great feedback from the bait and a quick hookset. Oh, and they look great."
