"i bought this combo a month ago, and so far its the best rod and reel ive ever used. i fish for specks in grand isle and so far ive landed a 6 pound speck with 50lb. power pro line. i love the rod, it just flexable enough to fish for specks " because of there soft mouth" . i love it."

Advantages: Ease of use
Disadvantages: Appearance, Durability, Performance
"I understand that, "you get what you pay for", but this was by far the worst purchase that I've made from BPS. I bought two of these for my kids and one of them literally fell apart the second time we took it out.
While threading line through the guides, the tip snapped off. I've been fishing for over 35 years and I've never seen anything like it. In fact, until today, I had never broken a rod.
Before it broke, I would have made the following comments:
1. The reel isn't bad. My kids had no problem learning how to cast with them (these were their first spinning reels) and they easily handled all the trout they caught.
2. The rod is really cheap. I know that this is an inexpensive combo, so it's to be expected, but everything from the laminated cork handle to the guides reek of cheap. They do however, feel pretty good (both casting and fighting fish)."

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money, rugged, compact
Disadvantages: Appearance, Durability
"I was on the huzzah river in central missouri fishing with this rod and suddenly my canoe swamped on a log and the rod tip broke off. don't get me wrong, this rod is an awesome rod, and the reel is smoother than silk, but I just hit a stump the wrong way, boat capsizes, rod breaks. it would have broken an Ugly Stik."
