"i bought this combo a month ago, and so far its the best rod and reel ive ever used. i fish for specks in grand isle and so far ive landed a 6 pound speck with 50lb. power pro line. i love the rod, it just flexable enough to fish for specks " because of there soft mouth" . i love it."

Stay away from this combo,August 2, 2009
By Tak32from Northern CA
Advantages: Ease of use Disadvantages: Appearance, Durability, Performance
"I understand that, "you get what you pay for", but this was by far the worst purchase that I've made from BPS. I bought two of these for my kids and one of them literally fell apart the second time we took it out.
While threading line through the guides, the tip snapped off. I've been fishing for over 35 years and I've never seen anything like it. In fact, until today, I had never broken a rod.
Before it broke, I would have made the following comments:
1. The reel isn't bad. My kids had no problem learning how to cast with them (these were their first spinning reels) and they easily handled all the trout they caught.
2. The rod is really cheap. I know that this is an inexpensive combo, so it's to be expected, but everything from the laminated cork handle to the guides reek of cheap. They do however, feel pretty good (both casting and fighting fish)."

good rod, bad luck,July 1, 2009
By creekrunnerfrom St.Louis,MO
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money, rugged, compact Disadvantages: Appearance, Durability
"I was on the huzzah river in central missouri fishing with this rod and suddenly my canoe swamped on a log and the rod tip broke off. don't get me wrong, this rod is an awesome rod, and the reel is smoother than silk, but I just hit a stump the wrong way, boat capsizes, rod breaks. it would have broken an Ugly Stik."

"Got this combo last January and the rod tip broke off before I even caught a fish. The reel quality is ok but was not worth the money."

"I bought this rod and reel combo around december of this year and have always had 8lb braided line on it and never had a problem with this combo until yesterday when i went to unhook from a lily pad and the rod snapped in half just above the connection point where the two rod halves connect to each other"

Great combo,March 31, 2009
By fridayfrom oviedo, florida
"I havnt had any problems with it. However, I was almost tempted to give it a 4 because the reel doesnt cast too well with fluoro or mono, it needs to be braid. But it works great with braid, so im happy."

Best Combo,December 1, 2008
By DCCFishfrom West Covina, Ca
"I have the 6' L and I love this rod. Caught big trout stream fishing with it... Battled some huge carp and even took it to the surf and caught some perch and croaker... I am all about catching the biggest fish I can on the lightest line and fishing pole and this passes the test.."

WONDERFUL,September 6, 2008
By unclebucksfrom St. Chuck Mo
"I love this rod/reel combo! I saw it in the store and had to have it, I played with it in the store, everything was smooth, as i would expect from the browning name, my friend uses the browning bait caster also a stalker so I talked him in to getting one. I was lucky and caught it on sale 50% off!
I was so awed by this reel i had it spooled with 4lb vanish and went fishing that day! it was Christmas time so I headed out to bush wildlife and did some trout fishing, and I caught some nice sized ones. all the trout I've caught have came via this rod and reel.
This rod and reel are a year old and I fish with it all the time in the creek behind my house, where i catch many bluegill and big old chubs."

"caught some 1# fish repeatedly then tried to set the hook on something bigger and rod broke , right beneath where they join. this rod had no back bone for those 1 #ers so i guess its only right . i'll stick with my "trusty" berkley lightning rod and my pinnacle reel ."

Great Pole!!!,June 3, 2008
By Schecter1556from New York
"I bought this pole and couldn't wait to use it, Browning is such a good name and the whole combo was only $60.00! I've caught many fish including a 3 ft. Northern Pike, the pike didn't stand a chance. This pole made short work of him. The pole is strong and you dont have to worry about to much but the tip is kinda brittle, i'd say nothing more than any other fishing pole though... For the price and name I would recommend this pole to anyone!"

Stalker,May 28, 2008
By bassfishgafrom Griffin, GA
"This is a great combo. I have used it for almost a year now. I look forward to maybe getting another one like it this year. I like having 2 similar poles set up and ready to go. I have had no problems with it. I love to fish with it. I have reeled in Largemouth Bass with it and have never had a problem. Great Gear."
