"as i stated in my review for the elite series combo i'm relatively new to baitcasters but this combo is truly an awesome set up...for this signature series combo i went with the 6.4:1 model reel and a 6'6" med action rod and it surpassed my expectations...i haven't noticed much of a difference between this and the elite series(read my elite series combo review) so if you're strapped for cash i wouldn't hesitate to buy this combo...u won't b sorry!!...casts a mile and extremely smooth...Just another excellent product from BPS"

"i bought this rod to cast lighter baits cause i heard it was smoothe. it is so smoothe i hooked up a 3/8 kvd spinner bait and was tossing it to shore from afar and had to stop it from hitting the bank. this rod reel combo doesn't backlash and is as smoothe and nice as any on the market. first time baitcast users should spend the money on this combo and not a cheaper one. u will never pick up a spin reel again. i have used a few other baitcast reels and this one is by far the best package. the rod is so sensitive if your bait goes over a stone you feel it.total package is here."

"This rod and reel combo is the smoothest longest casting i have ever owned. The centrifugal brake system works so well i almost never get backlashes. The rod is very sensitive but has a firm backbone for really crankin in the big ones. I rate it a 100%"

"I have several baitcasters but I am really a spin caster and a fly fisherman. I was told if i were to be a bass fisherman I NEEDED to have a baitcaster. I tried several and never could get it right and suffered the infamous professional over=cast (back lash). I used my bass pro bucks, a coupon and a winter sale and got the Johnny Morris MH 6-10 rod with the wide spool. I can not not make it back lash even if i set the brake very low. The sensitivity of the rod is great. I felt a little bass nibbling on my Texas rigged worm and hooked him effortlessly. This is a great combo that sells for less than a medium priced fly reel with far less components. Iam already saving my points for another one and waiting for the next sale. i think I'll get a 7-7.5 ft MH o H rod with the same reel 6.4: 1 retrieve. I don't think you can do better for the price. I am looking at the Carrot stick and Kistler rods but the Johnny Morris does the trick."

"I own 10 Johnny Morris rods and 8 reels both spincast and baitcast. The rods are great. Not many other rods out there can compare to this quality and durability. Very sensative yet still strong.
The Johnny Morris reels on the other hand just haven't held up very well for me. They are great for the first year or so, keep in mind I use them 2 to 4 times a week for an entire day of fishing. I like them, they are nice reels that function well. Both the baitcast and spinning reels.
I sent 4 of them in last year to the BPS repair shop for cleaning. The spinning reels needed new bail springs because the old ones weakend and wouldn't hold the bail closed on hook sets. And I do close the bail manually. not by turning the handle.
The baitcasters were never the same after 2 seasons of fishing. The handle feels loose and wobbles a little now even though it is secured properly."

"These rod and reels are awesome. I own 4 baitcasters, and 4 or 5 rods and plan on getting more. They fit well in your hand and the power hump on the rods are a comfortable fit also. That is important on those long fishing days! They are super sensitive, you can feel the slightest bite. The only downside that I have with these are you have to watch for when they go on sale. You can get a combo for around $225.00 then compared to the $289.98 they are asking for at the moment. It seems they go up and down in price all year long. They are worth the money tho, I couldn't see spending more on more expensive equipment when you have everything you could ask for right here. This is top notch pro equipment!"

"After reading the reviews i decided to purchase the Johny Morris signature series reel and rod combo. I was very exited to test it out when i got it in the mail, very nice anodizing finish on it. I loaded it up with 10 pound berkley fireline and loaded on a swimbait. It casts excellent and very rarely backlashes, the only problem with the reel is that the handle feels a little wobbly when you get to cranking it (medium- fast). Other than that a good reel/rod combo. (Be sure to match the lures weight with the cast control though cause when it does backlash it backlashes bad.)"

"I bought this combo a couple weeks ago and I can't believe how amazing it is. I got the 7.1:1 left-handed retrieve reel on a 6'6'' Med-Heavy rod. The rod is extremely sensitive with enough backbone to pull in a lunker. It feels great in my hands and is a true pleasure to fish with. The unique hook keeper is also great. It allows you to keep your weedless rigged baits without pulling the hook out of the middle of the bait. Now the reel. All I can say is "WOW." It is silky smooth, super strong, and very user friendly. It will cast a mile and never backlashes. I've used other reels that I had to struggle to keep the line from screaming off the spool. Not this one. It didn't even backlash with the braking set to 0. This combo is pricey, but that's because it's a top of the line, cream of the crop set up. Both the rod and reel are probably among the best quality fishing equipment you will ever get your hands on. This combo is well worth the money and will not disappoint. I would sleep with it if my girlfriend would let me."

"I purchased this rod/reel combo about a year ago; have used it approximately 75 times. Without fail it is a perfect set up. Originally I had wanted to purchase a Shimano set up- VERY glad I purchased this instead - excellent value. "I just purchased this combo at the Spring Fishing Classic sale and boy am I glad I did!! This is the best combo in my arsenal!! It has all you could ask for in a Rod and Reel and then some!! The reel's 7.1:1 high speed is fast for frogging and powerful at the same time!! The drag is great! The spool size is more than ample for any line! It's design is well done and shows of not only workmanship but is in a class of it's own!! The rod handles well and is able to handle even the toughest test of pulling out the big one!! I have had nothing but awesome results with this combo and it hasn't let me down!! Thinking about getting another one!! Trust me you can't go wrong with set!! It definately deserves 5 stars!!
