Bass Pro Shops® Pro Qualifier® XPS® Spinning Rods

Bass Pro Shops® Pro Qualifier® XPS® Spinning Rods

There's a new breed of competitive angler out there. Gunslingers like Edwin Evers are using their rods in ways unforeseen just a decade ago. Drop shot rigs, shaky heads--these and other techniques are leading the way to bass fishing's future, and Pro Qualifier stands at the foremost of the technology revolution! Innovations abound in this series, although we still build them on our ultra-sensitive, 70 million modulus Type II Powerwall blanks and fit them with high-end Fuji® Alconite® guidesets and Full Contact exposed-blank reel seats. The handles have been re-sculpted to give you a stronger, more efficient "fighting butt" design, and we eliminated the foregrips for lighter weight and quicker handling. Rear-locking reel seats. Multi-purpose hook keeper. Action: L = Light ML = Medium Light M = Medium MH = Medium Heavy Guide number includes tip.

Good Rod, July 4, 2009
By Alphahawk from TN

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design

"I bought a 7' 6" MH action rod and use it for top water Striper action below dams. It works great with the reel setup I use with 20# braid and throwing a Storm 4 inch suspending jerk bait. Some say one does not need a sensitive rod for Striper fishing but in this case I would disagree. Fishing in the boils on top-water or suspended it is hard sometimes to know if a fish has hit or not. The rod is excellent. However I am not sure it is that much better than the Extreme to justify the increased price....but I will have to use it in other situations to make a final call on this. I have just purchased the same action rod in an Extreme and will try it out. It is an great rod no matter but there is much debate between fisherman about this rod and the Extreme series vs price. Owning both I don't think you can go wrong either way but if one could save 39$ it would be nice....but then again the Pro Q may be that much more sensitive...in the end it is a judgment call."

Perfect, February 23, 2009
By Zags from Spokane, WA

"This is my favorite BPS rod by far. Light, balanced, and very sensitive. I purchsed the 6'8 Medium for drop shotting, and it is perfect. I always see Edwin Evers using these rods on TV when fishing tournaments, and I think cool, I have that rod. I really like not having a forgrip, allowing me to place my finger on the blank when dropshoting for trout and walleye. When dropshoting I like every sensitivity advantage I can get, including the fireline I have spooled with this rod, I can feel even the slightest take. If you are looking at the Bionic Blade or Extreme, spend the extra 20-30 bucks and get this rod. For 99 dollars on sale, they simply can't be beat."

Super Sensitive Rod, June 13, 2008
By bpsmatt from Westminster, CO

"This is a great rod. I teamed this up with a Johnny morris signature series and 6lb Bass Pro XPS Flourocarbon. I use this for shaky heading in local ponds and can feel any bite, even the lightest bite through the rod. The rod seat works well for fatter reel handles and tightens down really well. There isn't any negatives about the rod itself, but the hook holder sometimes snags the line prior to the cast. It doesn't mess anything up, but Bass pro should move the hook holder further up the rod, especially when I am carrying two or three rods and get the crankbait hook in my hand. I have caught plenty heavy fish and pulled them through lily pads and all sorts of weeds without any issues on the rod. Enjoy it, it's worth the deal, but make sure it is this year's model for the fatter reel seat."

Buy as many as you can!, June 1, 2008
By NKram622 from Conyers, GA

"If you aren't sure just buy one and when you use it you will realize you now have to drive back to the store or place another order. I by chance bought 6 of these when I found them on sale for $70. It was by far the best decision. I have switched out all my rods and use the BPS Extreme as my back ups for friends. This rod is ultra sensitive and yet very strong. I like everyone else I fish with have caught my fair share of trees and it will pull the tree in before it will snap!"

Great Rod, May 14, 2008
By Mule659 from Galena, MO

"I have this rod in a 6'6 medium action...this rod great! Very sensative...I am ablt to feel the slightest nibbles and feel the different cover as I am coming over it. I can tell if a fish just picks up my bait and is swimming with it no matter how light they take it. There will definately be more of these rods in my assortment."

Pro Qualifier Rod, April 28, 2008
By Satisfied from Kansas City, Kansas

"I have purchased the bionic blade, the extreme, and now the pro qualifier. After using all three, the pro qualifier is definately worth the money. It has way more sensitivity and a stronger backbone that allows you to control the fish better. I definately don't regret this purchase."

7'6" Split Grip Model, March 14, 2008
By Ghost from Indiana

"I've been looking for a 7'6" spinning rod w/ split grip, & BPS comes out w/ this model!

For such a long spinning rod in medium action, this rod has very good sensitivity & backbone.

I bought this almost a month ago & have caught quite a few bass & shad. The shads were accidentally snagged, so they felt like I had a pretty big bass.

I've mostly used or more like trying it out w/ lipless crankbaits & small 4.5" swimbaits. The extra length I can cast lures far. I will probably also use it for drop shotting. I mostly bought it for river fishing, but this rod seems to do much more than I had planned for.

I teamed up the PQ spinning rod w/ the new 2008 Johnny Morris 2000 spinning reel. Great combo, highly recommended.
