Bass Pro Shops® XPS® Modified Deluxe Dome Tents

The Bass Pro Shops XPS Modified Deluxe Dome Tents are loaded with useful features to make your next camping experience a great one. This series of tents feature durable construction that begins with stormproof polyurethane-coated taffeta walls and rainfly. Adding to the tent's toughness is its rugged polyethylene Ripstop floor. a really good tent, April 23, 2009
By BuckeyeJoe from OHIO

Advantages: Ease of use, Quality, Value for money, Well made/Durable

"What an awesume tent. We bought this tent to use on the many camping weekends we take each year. It looked great and had plenty of features and the price was better than anything else we looked at so this is the one we picked. After one trip all I can say is WOW!. it was a liitle cooler the weekend than we had hoped and then it started to rain. Being our first time using this tent I was a little nervious but it was great, stayed steady in the wind and complety dry inside. And the inside room and storage was also good. A real good tent -thanks."

Bells and whistles sans quality, July 7, 2008
By Honest1 from Upland, CA

"It's been a while since we've tent camped - although we've backpacked many years, so we were pleasantly surprised by the bells and whistles designed into tents these days. Our past experience with family tents was a huge Coleman army green canvas tent that took several "pole holders" and a yelling father to set up and always smelled mildewy. We wanted something quick, easy, and sturdy,
Excited about the look and extras in the Bass Pro XPS Deluxe tents (super cool storage hidden in each corner, great little pockets, the sporty look) we bought the 10x12 model along with another 10x10 cabin style tent from another store. We decided to set them both up and compare size, shape, quality, ease of set up, etc.
The other tent went up like a shot and was sturdy, roomy - but lacked the fancy gadgetry. I was already sure I wanted the Bass Pro tent before we had even set it up.
Setting up the XPS wasn't hard, but the poles are flimsy and keep disjointing as you slide, pull back from catching on pocket ends, and slide again....frustrating. Then bending the poles to get into the pin corners is a bit of a wrestling match., and unlike the first tent, pins don't fit snuggly into a drilled end fitting, but loosely into an open end of the poles. While you're wrestling with one side, sometimes the other end comes loose.
I still liked the shape, look, and gadgetry. It felt flimsier than the other tent, but I was still enamored by the froo-froo After comparing for about an hour we decided to pack them up. Packing the XPS was a pain because the poles kept streching apart....lousy material that's supposed to be pulling them together.
As we slid the poles into the provided bag, the bag slipped and dropped - maybe two feet, onto the ground and suddenly the poles split and the elastic banding was in pieces - spaghetti all over the floor. I wish I took a picture which would have spoken 1000 words about the quality. Hey, camping can be rough and messy - things need to be built to take some bumps.
I was disappointed, because I really wanted all those handy storage areas, but until Bass Pro manufactures more durable pole cording, and stronger poles, we're keeping the other tent.
I appreciate that Bass Pro Shops took our return gracefully.
