"This motor has not had a single issue come up yet. I use it atleast once a week for several hours. Wired through a foot switch. LED light is nice for summer time nights and power meter confirms the power left in the batt. For the non-professional fisher I would recommend this model. This was an upgrade from a 36# motorguide that was 12 years old. The new 55# uses less amps than the old 36#."

Spare prop,

"Great little motor - however, always have a spare prop. Ours spun off and when I went to Bass Pro they did not have any in stock. I ordered online and it came in less then 1 week, right before we were going fishing, which was great. BUT it cost three times the Canadian retail price, with shipping, currency exchange, etc..."

"Great motor ... powerful thrust ... perfect for small lake "motoring" ... here are my only knocks and why it isn't a 5:
1 ... lowest reverse speed is too powerful ...so forget any back trolling
2... why on earth are there no alligator clips? I didn't realize this until I got to my lake. I had to spend the entire week using wing nuts and screws to connect to the battery... annoyingly inconvenient."

"Have this motor on my 16 ft aluminum v-hull. Easy to install and even easier to use. Pushes 2 adults and 2 youngsters around the reservoir nicely. I'll be adding another just to get to the fishing hole a little quicker."

Worth the money,

"I bought this trolling motor 2 weeks ago and used the very next day. Where I fish is right below a dam with strong current when the gates are open. This motor pushed my 10' jon boat right up the current with no problems. I especially like that the prop has 3 blades instead of the normal 2."

Disadvantages: no quick connect battery cables.
"One of the associates in Marine recommended this motor to me. I have never owned a trolling motor before, but I wanted a decent one that was simple to install and operate at a fair price. I had no trouble mounting it next to my 75 hp outboard. I put it too close, but I later moved it over while in the water.
It easily moves my 15 foot fiberglass runabout around the coves.
I am going to purchase quick connect battery cables for it. Otherwise I would have rated it 5 stars. It is powerful and a good buy."

"I bought this motor about a week ago, first time i used it was on the manistee river.
I put it on my row boat, and it went up the current quite well.
Also ran it over a huge log in the river and the three blade didnt even break. only a little ding on the tips of the blades, and still works like new!"

"Very good performance on our 17' bass boat using all speeds including reverse. The manual however is not very helpful other than naming each item. I'd like to know what the red plastic thing is that swivlels from the clamp right above the shaft release button. Also, because I'm using the bracket from the previous trolling motor to clamp to ( front of boat ), I can't run the motor straight down because the shaft rubs against the side of the boat, so we use the first notch past vertical and it seems to work just fine - no steering problems. I noticed that I have to keep a little tension on the shaft clamp so it doesn't wander. I also wired a plug to the end of the cables so that I could just plug it into the existing socket on our boat, this makes it real easy - clamp it on and plug it in. When we are not using the trolling motor we just release the shaft clamp and lay the motor horizontal across the front of the boat and tie it down with a strap to keep it from bouncing. Great buy - purchased in July/08."

"I purchased this item last month and I put it
on my 16 1/2 foot jon boat and it is working
like a dream. The salesman advised me to get a holder for it and we went out and looked at another jon boat there and he showed me how to insert it in the handle on the front of the boat and it works perfect. The prowler is the way to go. I bought the 40 and it
works great. I don't know what else to say except this is one fine product. This is only
one of the items I have purchased at Bass Pro and I can recommend this and any other
product to everyone that you cannot go wrong
at the Bass Pro Shop, at Opry Mills."

VERY unreliable,

"My 55lb trolling motor was bought new in 08.
The first problem (of many) is that the tilt position latch did not hold and the motor would jump to the next position at will under full foward speed. So, I could never troll at full speed.
The 2nd problem is that when the locking screw was first tightened onto the 1" stainless steel tube it deformed the shaft but still did not have enough strength to hold the shafts verticle position and is now VERY difficult to turn due to the deformed flat spot on the 1" steel tube (binds terribly when attempting to turn)
The 3rd and 4th problems occured yesterday within minutes of each other.
All 5 forward speeds quit working and the prop fell off and sank to the bottom along with the nut.
This motor appeared to be a bargain at first. BUT.......Not so as it would appear.
It is proving to be VERY unreliable on my boat and seems to have a number of significant flaws."

"I recently just bought this motor and had to go try it out I was impressed with the speed this motor puts out as well as how it handled i got this thing in some serious shallow spots and was still able to get out just using the trolling motor. The only thing i can think of they could of done better is to put on battery clamps instead of terminal mounts. Great motor Great buy I would recommend this to anyone."
