Just a little short, June 4, 2009
By Sapster from Louisville, KY

Advantages: Durability, Features, High Quality, Value for money
Disadvantages: options of diffrent shaft lenghts

"No doubt the trolling motor setup was solid - I purchased this motor to mount on to a custom transom that was built on the front of my 14ft V-hull Jon boat.

When we put the boat in the water we found that the 30in shaft was to short to submerge the motor in the water leaving about a 1/4 in of the prop out of the water.

It would be nice if there was an option to purchase this motor shaft in diffrent lengths

Bulldog is a real "dog", October 8, 2008
By Sage from Durango, CO

"Where do I start. I believe this would make a good bow mount but it is not set up to be a transom mount.
When the motor is mounted on the transom, the foot peddle must face the wrong way because the cable is way too short. Also the motor faces the wrong way so the action of the peddle is reversed.
I can't believe that a major trolling motor maker would market something like this.
When I called customer support, I was told that this is how the motor works and there are no modifications that can be made.
Also, the owner's manual covers many other motors but not this one.
DO NOT BUY!!

Perfect for Small Boats, June 6, 2008
By Maltrout from Massachusetts

"This motor is perfect for small boats and crawdad type boats. 40 pounds of thrust is more than enough to move a fully loaded 11' boat with 2 rather large people at an impressive speed. The compact design and power in this motor are great. I highy reccomend this to any angler looking to fish more efficiently in a small boat."

Finally someone made one, May 21, 2008
By kustmpaintr from Connecticut

"I have a transom mount boat (10' plastic pontoon) that doesn't allow room for bow mount, but I've always wanted the convenience of a foot operated trolling motor. I finally found one and purchased it. Just so people know it has 40 pounds of thrust, not the 36 the Bass Pro page lists. This is very strong, ample thrust even with two people and a LOT of gear. Very compact design. I absolutely love it, and have had a few compliments already, and it's still early in the season. The only problem is storage. The clamp can only go half way down the shaft so you can't store it easily like a regular transom mount by sliding the lower unit up to the clamp, but I used a piece of wood that cups the lower shaft, and sits on my trailer to take the bouncing stress off when trailering. Small gripe, and easy fix to have this great product. In the future I would like to see higher thrust as this is the sole propulsion for my boat. Highly recommend this product. For the features the price isn't too bad either."
