poor paint job?, May 28, 2009
By ChrisC from Portland, Tx

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Style/Design
Disadvantages: Durability

"I had this installed on a new boat in 18 months ago. Have had no problems at all except the paint started bubbling off of the motor housing. I took it to the warranty shop and they replaced the whole unit for free. I have about 60 hours on my boat and use the trolling motor 100% in salt water and being a former bass fisherman, use it a lot. I would recommend it to others as I am impressed with the warranty."

"I purchased this motor in Feb 2008 for my new boat. I have used this motor aprox 20hrs My last trip the steering drive motor locked up. No problem under warranty I carried it to the repair service center. They replaced with brand new drive motor. Next trip fishing The motor quit after 2hrs of operation same problem. I called Motor Guide they stated they have the issue resolved by redisgning the motor. I asked about exchanging for another kind of motor. The rep stated they would not exchange. They stated had the issue was resolved. I haven't got my motor back yet the part is still on back order."

Less than 100 hrs., March 16, 2008

"Already needs service. Just died on the lake and I have checked everything that can be checked by the consumer.I am a Master electrician and have an associate degree in instrumentation.Just thought I would add that to let people know I am intelligent enough to troubleshoot these devices and the wireless transmitter has problems(ie; no output) but you cannot order the replacement parts. You will have to pay an authorized repair shop the labor fee to get the part you need.Even if you install it yourself.Of course mine is still under warranty but their will come a day that it isn't and this would be a 250.00 repair and the part is 41.00.The rest is labor and takes less than 30 minutes to install including a couple of coffee breaks. Buyer Beware!!!!!!!!"
