"Me and some friends planed an overnight backpacking trip to climb a mountain and I was in desperate need of decent footwear. I decided to check out the new BassPro and with little money to spend I bought the store brand of hunting boots because they were on sale. It was a very good purchase. With only two days before the trip I was impressed with how little the kangaroo leather needed to be broken in; I didn't get a single blister and the boots held up remarkably over four days of hard hiking and 2500m of vertical gain through forest, mud, mountain rock, scree, and wetland--all while carrying 55 pounds of equipment. The 7" ankle support may have been low for my liking but still saved me from twisting my ankle on more than one occasion, and the waterproofing and insulation kept my feet warm and dry despite having to cross a wetland in the rain. The treads seemed soft at first but handled the roughest terrain with ease and the self cleaning nature of the lugs was useful when walking through mud. The boots may not have looked new coming back, but the next week I was wearing them again while climbing another mountain and I don't expect to be buying a new pair of boots for a long time."
