can handle grouper,November 7, 2008
By kayaker13from tampa,fl
"i'v had this rod for six months and have caught many redfish .recently i went fishing around some shallow bridge pilings in search of mango snapper.one fish i hooked felt like a reel fighter.it went straight back under the piling.i was able to wrench the fish away without any problems.when i got it to shore i discovered i had a large 6 lb grouper.now i wouldn't recommend this rod for offshore wreck fishing but it does have the power to turn a fish when you need it."

"I have had this rod for little over 2 years and have put it thru shear (heck) and back. So far she has taken it like a champ and remains as functional as ever. Sure she has lost some of her original shine to Texas sun and saltwater use but that doesn't bother me. This rod is mated to either my Daiwa Tierra or a Shimano Sahara depending on my needs. To me she is at home throwing light to medium corks out to sand bass at the lake or corks out to trout in our bays. She is also a decent frog rod as well, tho I have rarely fished her that way, but the few times she was able to work large bass away from the structure. Throw a Exceler reel on this rod and you have a very nice freshwater setup. Replace the Exceler with a Sahara or Symetre and you have a perfect medium priced saltwater setup capable of bringing in 30+ pound reds with ease. I advise all bay fishermen on smaller budgets to def. give this rod a chance and see how she feels your hands first."
