"I recently purchased the Saros 4000 and mounted it on my Shimano, Teramar 7'6'' MH rod...A friend of mine, who works at BPS, recommended it to me because BPS didn't have the reel I originally wanted to purchase....Together they are a great combo...The reel is so smooth and reels in rather quickly...I was using it for stripers...And it held up amazingly! Even though I am not a huge Shimano fan, I am still glad I purchased this combo!

"This is a great reel for the money, smooth, silent, and strong. The "S" concept is guaranteed satisfaction. The propulsion spool is also one of the most beneficial innovations to a fishing reel for anglers who really like using fluorocarbon line. "I love this reel ! It is so smooth and casts very well .I have bought 2 more as family gifts and they also have nothing but great things to say about them.I plan on ordering another today .I paired mine with a shimano claurus 6-6 ,m,extra fast rod for finesse .The rod has broken twice now very brittle but sensitive.I can see why bass pro shop doesn't carry them-it would be an all day job just in replacements .Lifetime warranty on the claurus is great but you should take shipping costs in mind....."

"Smooth spinning reel. Compact size that does not take up as much room in the rod box as other spinning reels. Very nice drag and the extra spool is exactly the same as the one on the reel. A lot of manufacturers package 'cheaper' extra spools.
Currently have 30lb Power Pro Braid on the reel - it handles the braids very well. Also used Stren mono - the propulsion system and line roller work well to tame twisting.
Really like the handle grip too. Easy to grab on those surprise strikes.
Overall, very nice reel."

"my fiance got me the 3000f for christmas and i love it. The reel is smooth and casts longer than all my other reels. I fish 3-5 times a week for multiple species of fish and i cant afford to have 5 different rod and reel combo's with the drag system on this reel i can fish smallies one day and swap out the extra spool it comes with and catch 30lb cats the next day and the weight is light enough to fish with it all day. Shimano has a "reel winner" here"

"I have been using Quantum reels since '95. I have a ton of them, switching out to new models when I need to. I picked this Saros up one day and messed around with it and ended up ordering one. What a nice reel for the price. For any price for that matter. I love the spool design and the way that the handle breaks down. It is super smooth and so crisp. Its cheaper than the Energy's also, which is what I would compare it to. Nice, nice job Shimano. I love this reel. I paired it up to a St. Croix Mojo 6'9 drop shot rod. Not a bad rod either."

"I really enjoy this reel and use with my Shimano medium action rod for drop shotting. It's smooth, has a nice drag, and is comfortable in the hand. My only suggestion is to spool your own line, using the reel itself instead of taking the spool off and having it machined on. I have experienced some problems with tangles. The propulsion technology winds the line in a very paticular fashion to allow for smoother and father cast. When you add that type of winding to an inconsistent wind (from the machine) it adds up to trouble. Wind your on line using the reel and you should have no problems."

"I purchased one of these reels back in August and I'm glad I did. It is far better than a few of my other reels (worths loads of money more) and out performs everything else. I have the 3000 series with the giant paddle handle. At first it felt odd, but it is a huge bonus now...its natural and always there when you go to grab it quickly when the fish hits. Try out a Saros...for the price, this reel is unreal. I find very little difference between the Saros reel and its ''next up'' the Stradic. Give it a try!"

"I purchased a Soros 2500 a few months ago and found it ran circles around all my other reels (some costing mucho bucks). I just ordered and received my second 2500. This reel is fantastic with crank baits. You get a top of the line reel for a very good price. I started with Shimano in 1984 with their GTX 1200 Quickfire which is now a paper weight. Shimano has come a long way. You can't go wrong with Shimano. I also have 4 Shimano rods."
