"I got this as a birthday present in September and have loved it ever since. I think i have talked two of my buddies into getting one, I also got there bass fly tying kit and am tying at least three to four flies a night. "I received this package as a gift about four years ago when then fam decided to take a fly fishing trip to north Georgia. Since the rood has brought me many trout from many states as well as many sizeable bass, crappie, and bream from local ponds and lakes around my home.
To tell you the truth i could not be happier, the rod casts extremely well and the reel is unbelievably quiet. There is plenty of back bone to support larger fish as well as enough finesse to capture a wary trout. Overall i believe that the package is a great buy for the price and it will serve you as me through many fishing adventures to come."

"I bought the heaveir rod #8 weight to use in bass fly fishing. I found it a rugged, sturdy yet very responsive rod. I enjoyed it so much I bought my son one. I have enjoyed tying my own flys with the kit Ibought at BPS. The set quality is better than the individual items quality/price."

"I've been wanting to teach myself to fly fish for a long time, and bought this combo on Father's Day.
First fish on (2 oz bluegill), and the rod broke between the 2nd and 3rd eye (from the top).
A 2oz BLUEGILL! It must have been all of 4" long!!
I'll be taking it back soon but it's over a 90 minute round trip for us. I'll report back how well BPS responds, as I do not have the receipt."

Great starter rod, great value,February 2, 2009

"I have been fishing spinning rods for bass and pike since I was a little kid, but last summer my grandad taught me how to use a fly rod. I immedeatly went down to Bass Pro Shops to buy by own rig and I chose this particular rod primarily beacause it was so cheep. I was amazed with the rod when I first used it because in my oppinion it preformed much better then my grandad's rod, which is twice the cost. I was having a great time reeling in quarter to halfpound smallmouth bass and laketrout using woolybuger flies that I also bought at Bass Pro. I havn't tested its preformance catching sizeable trout in a stream yet. The rod casts very well and I havn't has many problems with it. I would highly recomend this rod to you if you're looking for a first fly rod, or if you are a fisherman on a tight budget looking for good value."
