"I have owned this camera for around two months, and am yet to have any pics. The sd card provided has a lock on it and every time I go to check the camera it says card locked. I called moultrie and was put on hold for 48 minutes, but they did send me a new card. The new card has the same problem. The camera will act fine for about 30 seconds then it goes right back to saying card locked. The camera will not function at all."

"I have four of these Moultrie D-40's. The battery life is excelent and will take around 800-900 pictures set on high quality on a 2GB card. I suggest setting this camera on high quality because it already takes a grainy picture. The older Moultrie 100's and 200's that have been discontinued took a much better picture. The date/time will slowly go out of sink so make sure every month or so you reset the date/time on the camera. Great buy for the price."

"Pros: Very very easy to set up, takes great pictures, Cons: like some of the 1 star reviews, if the animal is on the move the camera only gets the back half of the animal. Maybe it should be called Feeder camera and not Trail camera. I just wanted to know the time,date and what was at my feeder and this was perfect considering the price."

"Had this product for nearly two years. Moultrie replaced it once because the unit's flash was unreliable. That was about a year ago. Over the past week the camera I have took photos every night. Out of the 27 photos in memory, the flash worked once, but the trigger was so slow it missed the action. The battery level on the display was at 93% and the temperature was never below 38f. Other than the slow trigger time and the unreliable flash, it takes clear photos during the day. Would also like to see memory card access under the front hood instead of under the battery access."

"I originally bought a Bushnell and it was horrible. After talking with a sales associate I bought a cheaper Moultrie. This camera is great. It takes great day and night time pics. I have not used the video feature yet so I am unable to comment. The only negative comment is Battery Life. The 6 D's can get a little expensive."

"I've had this camera for three years now and I've never had any problems. It is easy to use and cheap. The pictures come out good day or night. I've had more expensive brands that take alot of blank pictures but i have had very few blank pictures out of 10,000's of pictures taken on this Moultrie. I now have three of these and all perform excellent. You can't find another camera close to this one for the price."

"Camera takes decent pictures, not great but good. However it doesn't take pictures when the entire thing is full of water. I had it out less than three months and I went to open it and water just poured out. We'll see how good their warranty dept is."

"Bought two of these to give them a try during 2009 preseason scouting. I've left the camera's out 3 and 4 weeks at a time and they both had 50-60% battery life on them when I retrieved them. With a 2G SD card, you can take all the pics you'll ever need with the cameras set on high quality. Haven't tried the video option yet, but I plan on giving it a try now that the season has started. The only thing that could be improved upon is the trigger speed (which is adequate but could be a little faster) and the junk bungee straps that come with it for securing it to a tree."

"bought 1 in 2007. worked fine for a little while. battery ran fast. used BassPro batteries. Then stopped working. water inside didn't look like battery fluid. returned to Moultrie to get it repaired. used it again and it worked. put it up during the summer 2009. when I got it out, lots of liquid in the battery-compartment. rusted thru. when I put it up, was dry. Moultrie comment: out of warranty. was it camera or batteries?"

"I bought this camera set it up and left it for 2 weeks when I came back and checked out the pics. i was very happy with what I saw. Great day and night pics. Easy to use and not real expensive. After seeing what it could do I bought another for my dad. First time using game cameras and they worked great. For what you pay for it good deal. Down side some pics can be blurry if the deer are moving fast.The pics. look better on my computer then when I uploaded them to this web page so they do look alot clearer. As for the video it takes I havent tried it but looking forward to it."

"Bought the Camera in August and put it up around the 15th of the month. I just this week had to change the batteries after around 1200 pictures (not all of deer). Getting it set up to take close pictures at night was important because the flash range isn't that far but it isn't marketed to go much past the 15 yard range so I knew what I was buying. Overall the battery life is excellent. The camera trigger speed is adequate for the price but I did end up with about a third of the pictures being blurry. Setting the camera to take multiple pictures per exposure did help get at least 1 good picture of any deer in the exposure. For the price it was a great purchase but if I were to get quality I might go a different route but being on a budget it was perfect to figure out what deer were in the area I was hunting. 4 out of 5 stars with the only downfall being the few blurry pictures but well worth the price when on a tight budget."
