"The mounting instructions are not very specific, but if you wan to to use the 90 degree flip to mount the seat yet maintain the safety on not having the seat flip up all the time, just off set the rear rail by an inch or two on one side or the other. if you plan on taking the entire seat off, pedestal and all for traveling or storage. This is not a criticism of the product, I think this is one of the best mounting systems for bench type seating in an aluminum boat ever. I i just purchased another set to so I can mount a seat on every bench. ."

It is "Sure Mount" but not easy to release,November 9, 2006

"This seat slide is a good product but the description that BPS offers is a bit optimistic. It says: " Tilt seat forward at 90? angle for easy removal." Well, that's true, after a fashion, if you mount the tracks so that the seat can be removed in this manner the seat can also tip forward whenever the it wants to. For this slider to be safe from letting the seat tip forward you must mount the rear guide track so that the seat is held securely, I would not mount it any other way. But it's easy to mount a quick release to the slider plate and that will allow you to remove the seat when you want, you'll be safer and gain some altitude too. If you buy this slide youi might also want to consider getting a quick release plate such as BPS's #38-586-532-00, or one like it."
