only 2 things keep these from being great, October 22, 2009
By lifeatfulldraw from frankfort, ky

Advantages: Durability, Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money

"I purchased 2 sets of these from BPS in Clarksville, In a few months ago and I really like them. The only way they could be improved is by making the top section with steps on both sides for hanging your stands and replacing existing straps with ratchet style straps. But they climb outstanding and feel really solid. i just do not like tightning straps every week while i am climbing in my stand. they don"t always need it, but you never know when it's time so you have to check them every week unless you like stepping out of a treestand 20 feet in the air onto a step you hope is secure. overall these are excellent and great at what they were designed for.....to climb. just wish they would make improvements I stated before."

Regrets, October 15, 2009
By Anonymous from Ontario, Canada

Disadvantages: Performance

"These sticks are heavy - 27 pounds! Bulky and ackward to carry as well; especially if you are packing a treestand on your back, a fanny pack, and a firearm. I like to hunt off the beaten path, and the sticks aren't practical to take with me. The aluminum model would be a better choice, unfortunately it wasn't available when I ordered. Looks like its back to the screw-in steps this fall."

climb good, but..., December 26, 2008
By DS11 from Waterloo SC

"These sticks climb well, but they are kind of a pain when putting the stand up since they dont have steps at the same height. Its kind of uncomfortable standing with one leg higher while strapping the stand to the tree."

Excellent and SAFE!, November 24, 2008
By WVOUTDRSMN from Southern WV

"Im a "climber" tree stand guy. Ive had buddies use screw in steps and lock ons for years. Ive been in their stands and some of my own Ive attempted with screw in steps, but last year I purchased two sets for semi-permanent stands on a buddy's farm and after hunting all season in it Im looking at this site to buy more and decided to write this review. It will take two of you to set up but it will be the easiest stand to access during hunting season once you have it up. For the money, I cant see anything else out there even close!"

awesome for the price, October 22, 2008
By Buzzalot from Nova Scotia, Canada

"These sticks promote security when climbing. A linemens belt makes setting up a breeze. Need to tighten straps every couple weeks. Make sure to use a large tree or they make one hellova noise on a windy day as the trees sways. Wrapped rubber tape around top rungs, great for hanging bow on."

Best Sticks Out There, September 22, 2008
By IRISHPETE from INDIANA

"I have 4 sets of a competitors brand of climbing sticks. I just recently purchased two sets of these API sticks at the Clarksville Indiana BPS. All I can say is I wish the other 4 sets were API's. These sticks are extrememly well made. I have not had any problems with the straps. They hold tight and keep these sticks stuck to the tree. I will continue to use the competitors sticks, but they do not compare to the API's."

Great deal, December 18, 2007
By WarEagleHunter from Tuscaloosa, AL

"I weigh 295 and wear a size 15 boot and I feel comfortable climbing this ladder. My only complaint is that I bought 2 and one of them did not have the pins in it to connect the sections together. I had to spend 5 bucks to get 3- 5/16 pins"

Good but not Great, November 12, 2007
By duckslayer62 from Chicago, IL

"The sticks are a good value for the price, but the tie downs come loose very easily. The weight and overall construction of the sticks is good, but the tie downs leave something to be desired. While hanging a stand last week, I constantly had to retighten every strap so the sticks would stay tight against the tree. I had to put a nail in each strap to combat the problem. Overall, for the price these sticks are a good buy."

good product, September 19, 2007
By Dutchman

"These ladder sticks (20 ft) are great! They get me up to where I want to be and give me a secure feeling when climbing. Simple to install, they grip the tree quite well and have ample room on the rungs for my big feet. Obviously, they work best on straight trunked trees. The only downside is that the rungs are staggered and that makes it a bit difficult when you're hanging a lock-on stand, but that's a small price to pay for the feeling of safety I have when using these to climb."

"I have several sets of these that I use with my Gorriia hang on stands and they work great! Are easy to setup and stay secure to the tree with the buckle straps."
