"The one that came with my nitro 2008 Z9 lost its gas last week. I was looking at the replacement cost and I guess I will be going with a manual adjusting pole. It was great while it worked but 2 years come on for 85$ it should last for at least 5 or more. Maybe I got a bad one"

"I have returned two power pedestals made by a different mfg. One had a loose mounting pin and the other had a bent mounting pin. I then looked at an old one that always worked well and found it was a Swivl-Eze, so I ordered the shorter one made by Swivl-Eze and it worked perfectly and is completely solid. I have now purchased the longer version and it too is perfect. Good quality control. Not all pedistals are created equal."

"I used this pedestal (shorter one) and it was perfect. It was just the right height. It was in between standing and sitting, just what I wanted. I fished 5 hours with it without tiring. I recommend it to someone who doesn't want to stand all day and can't sit because the seat is too close to the deck. 5 star rating."

"I have purchased 3 power pedastals over the last six years. All have failed the same way. I have even taken care as to limit their exposure to weather and oiled them frequently. Didn't matter! I would not purchase another except they seem to be the only game in town for my base."

"I’ve owned one of these for a few years now. I wanted a quality seat elevator that I could use with my butt seat that could stand up to me (I’m a BIG guy – 6’ 5” 350lbs). So far this pedestal has lived up to my expectations. I like its solid design and resistance strength when it comes to holding my weight. If it can hold me up then it’s a winner! Granted, I usually lean on it because I mostly use a butt seat when fishing, so I don’t use the hydraulics on it all that much. I have used it with a regular seat too and it has always performed excellent.

3. Has wire loop that can be used to attach a towel or other accessories too for fishing

I saw in some of the other reviews that it doesn’t do well with saltwater. I can’t comment on that because I only freshwater fish. As far as the hydraulic function goes; mine still works great. If you do plan on purchasing this for saltwater applications then you may have to try cleaning it with a mild marine grade cleaner and water after each use to prevent seizing. I have purchased other Swivl-Eze products and have always been satisfied with their products quality, functionality, and warranty/support.
I would recommend this pedestal to others in a heartbeat!"

As other s/w reviewers have stated - if you leave your boat in the water, or fish alot, & don't take the pedestals inside & spray down the base pin & the interior cylinder post - rust, corrosion, & the unit locking up will be the result.
I have 2 chairs on my rear casting deck of my Bay Boat & I've been through 3 sets of 2 of the Swivl-Eze Power Post & Adjustable Seat Mounts, and all 6 have ended up in the dumpster - I should have stopped at the 1st set.
This is the type of product that should be well marked - "Not for use in Saltwater".""

"I love this pedestal. It works perfect with my lean seat. Being able to adjust the height allows me to stay comfortable all day on the water. However, after 2 years of use I did have one pedestal that wouldn't hold it's hydraulics anymore. Not sure if the fluid leaked or what. Took it to BPS for an exchange with no problems. Don't know if I just got unlucky or if all of them will mess up over time."

"You have to be careful not to let pedestal sit up after use without lubricating. If moisture gets into inner cavity it will rust and seize. Even worse if using around saltwater. The price may be a bit high for the product"
