Cortland Cortland® Toothy Critter® Tie-able Stainless Steel Leader

Chasing after pike, muskies, bluefish and barracuda requires specialized tackle, and even the toughest gear is useless up against razor sharp teeth unless you are fishing with a leader material that can stand up to the task. Introducing, the incredibly durable Toothy Critter, a tie-able stainless steel leader that’s supple enough to tie conventional knots, yet tough enough to withstand loads of abuse from razor sharp teeth. Color: Bronze. Length: 10'.

Bass fishing break off no more

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design
Disadvantages: a little pricey but worth it
"I Bass fish in Pike water and nothing will tick you off more then loosing a lure to Pike. No more with this stuff. I fish with a variety of Spider Wire braid. I just add about 18 inches of this Toothy Critter in the appropriate test, anywhere between 15 and 30 lb. with a double Uni Knot. If you don't know a Uni Knot, learn it. It's the best knot any way, even for braid. Obviously the Toothy Critter leader won't work with finesse fishing where stealth is required. The Double Uni Knot works great here to add a leader of flourocarbon. I use toothy critter mostly with swim baits on jig heads or hollow belly on weighted wide gap hooks. Also with spinnerbaits. Haven't tried it with crank baits yet. I imagine it would work with medium and larger cranks where the action won't be as diminished. I was surely suprised when I first used it. I noticed another review for ice fishing. Gotta try that too."

Finally, for fly casters

"This stuff is amazing. I purchased a larger spool of the 30 lb test at a promotional event, and I can't say enough about it. You can actually use real knots to attach your flies (I have to use a pair of pliers to cinch knots down tightly), so the days of snaps and clamps are over. It is flexible enough that it will turn over well with big flies, but tough enough that I can catch a handful (or more) of tiger muskie before I need to change it out."
