Great rod,January 6, 2009
By WoodyNCfrom Mountains of NC
"I have theLaunch in 9 foot 5 weight 4 piece, and love it. I fished with another big and well recognised name brand for a couple of years, and there is absolutely no comparison. My casting improved within the first day using the Sage rod .. primarily because you can feel the rod loading. As mentioned below in another post, the Launch is considered Sage's low end rod, but let me point out two things: 1st, within the first week of owning this rod i went fishing with my buddy who guides and who fishes a Sage Z-Axis, Sage's top of the line rod .... he said he could not tell a noticeable difference. To the point that he got mad at paying over $700 for his rod when he could have spent way less for comparable performance. And 2nd .. even if it is Sage's low end rod, it's a Sage, and Sage means made in the USA with guaranteed quality and performance, even the low end of premier is premier.
If you want a high end rod at a reasonable price ... you just found it."

New level of fly fishing,December 6, 2007

"I have owned 4 Sage rods 2 two of them Launches. After fishing a Sage for a while even a Launch you will never want to fish a overseas factory junk rod again. I have them but they are loaners. The Launch is Sages low end, but don't think that way. Think of hand crafted, no questions lifetime guarantee, made in the USA, and a company you can call and ask about your rod or just talk about fishing. They are an old school American style company. Call them some time, it's like talking to a buddy about fishing not talking to a company."

good stuff,July 1, 2007

"I own a 4 pc. 4 wt. It was my first"quality" rod, though I have purchased several rods since then. The rod is very well made, The grip does not have great cork, but what do you expect for 200 bucks. The rod is slightly slow for my taste, but I still enjoy casting it. It loads very nicely with a minimum amount of line and I feel it is one of the most accurate casting rods I have used. I use it mostly for trout on medium to large streams. Pretty sensitive tip gives good soft dry fly presentation and makes a really good nymphing rod. I also use it to take smallmoth bass using deer mice, small clousers, poppers, etc. While the 4 wt is a bit light for this, this rod has enough " rear end" to push some larger flies. I can cast very comfortably to about 60 feet. The rod is capable of more. Buy it, it is really a great rod. If you want something a bit faster, but not ridiculous, try the Red. RS3....my favorite rod of all time"

"When you cast with this rod, you can feel the power transition all the way up the rod. To my mind, worth twice as much as popular rods that cost within $20 or $30. I own a six weight and it can thrown out a lot of line, even in the wind.."
