Extreme performance for specialized techniques!''Spinning gear does a bang-up job when it comes to drop-shotting and shakey-head fishing. I find the Extreme reels ideal for these specialized techniques."Stacey King12-Time Bassmaster Classic® QualifierDesigned and built with the same care and precision that goes into every Extreme baitcaster, our Extreme spinning reel is sure to turn more than a few heads this season! Like its namesake, it's made to be the top performer in its class, a reel so smooth and reliable that you can keep your focus where it should be -- on the fish. The rugged one-piece aluminum frame houses an extra-compact gearbox that keeps internal gears and shafts functioning smoothly; the machined-aluminum spool is based on our exclusive Mag Spool Technology™, which features a large-diameter spool that enhances both casting distance and retrieve speed, while reducing line twist and smoothing out the drag performance. The bail wire and mainshaft are both crafted of solid stainless steel for superior strength. Inside, the 5-bearing system offers smooth, hitchless winding on every retrieve, and the machined-aluminum handle with soft-touch knob provides all the leverage and control you'll need to subdue the best fish of the day, every day. Equipped with PowerLock™ instant anti-reverse to ensure solid hooksets at any point during the retrieve. All in all, the Extreme Spinning Reel will make a strong addition to your arsenal -- especially at such a great price!Mag Spool Technology™Our exclusive large-diameter Mag Spool helps a spinning reel do what it does best, better! You get longer casts, faster retrieves, increased line pickup per handle turn, smoother drag, and less line twist.Ultra-Compact Gear BoxThe ideal spinning reel frame has only two jobs: contain the gears, and prevent flex. This one is efficiently small, and built of solid, unyielding aluminum. Sometimes less is better!Line recovery in inches per handle turn.

Bad Experience,June 17, 2009
By FEVERfrom Michigan
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design Disadvantages: Durability
"I purchased four of these reels. Two of the medium size, and two of the large size (not the ultralight). Four trips on the water later, and there were constant problems with the bail returns. The line constantly overlaps and catches behind the roller guide. The 8 and 10 pound test line (that I had spooled on), then cuts into the gold plated roller guide holder piece. I'm talking strictly monofilament line here and not braid. This gold plated part is tissue paper thin and the plastic beneath the gold plating (that hold the roller) is very soft plastic. I examined this with a 10X eye loupe and once the line went through the gold plating it dug into the plastic like it was soft butter! This is unacceptable in ANY reel and all four (all with the same problem) were returned to Bass Pro Shops. To their word, they stood behind their product and issued a refund, which I then took and purchased four more spinning reels of a different manufacture. I have fished tournaments for over 20 years and this cheap part destroys the quality of an otherwise smooth reel. This particular part would have to be replaced with a quality part before I would ever consider recommending this product to anyone."

Great Spinning Reel for the $,May 25, 2009
By Shadillacfrom Alamo City, TX
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money Disadvantages: Appearance
"Excellent choice for shakey head fishing or drop shotting for the$. I have spooled up Seaguar 12# flouro on this reel and it peels off the wide spool very well upon making a cast. I can make casts 20-30 feet or more than the Okuma Alumina I was using. If you have a problem fishing spinning reels and the line gets twisted off the reel as you make a cast then try this one out. The reel handled a 3# LMB very well. I will hope to be testing it on a larger one soon. I don't know if I like all the Gold on it. My fishing buddy knicknamed it Mr T starter reel."

"I am old school. With this reel you really can cast a country mile. The Mag Spool works great. The bail is a little hard in closing after the cast when turning the handle. This seems to be with all of them. Except for that I would give it a 5 star rating."

"I have two of these reels. I have and use reels that I have paid more money for, but this real works well and has a great feel to it. It's size and how it fits on to the rod works well. Bass Pro has done a good job with this reel."

bps extreme "supreme",April 15, 2009
By shakeybasserfrom maryland
"i bought the rod & reel combo (x4000 w/woo daves worm/jig 6' 6" MH rod). i was so impressed with this reel that i immediately bought another reel while it was still on sale. the rods haven't gone back on sale yet. the reel is expertly designed, weighing in at just over 11 oz. and a streamlined design. the compact gearbox looks like everything will stay in place and the extra spool is always a great benefit. loops come off easier and the stop lock anti reverse will prevent those awward hook sets when the reel handle might otherwise try to go backwards. i can easily see myself revamping my whole arsenal with bps extreme equipment (rods and reels). i'm sold on these and the price is very reasonable for such quality tackle."

A good reel for the price,March 22, 2009
By outdoorsman79from Minnesota
"I bought this reel to complement my browning medallion rod. I have used it for about a year now, and this is my honest review.
The magspool is by far the best feature of this reel. I am a firm believer that the magspool feature casts farther, holds more line, and it has a faster retrieve.
The reel is smooth, at least enough for a $50 reel. It wobbles however, and this can become very annoying at times, but when that bass hits your topwater, you do not notice a wobbly reel.
The handle is nice, and the reel is built solid. It has been hit pretty hard against hard surfaces and it has held up.
For $50, it's a good reel. Fits perfectly on my browning rod."

Best for the money!,January 29, 2009
By fireman5from Tennessee
"I have had more expensive reels that have done a better job,BUT for the money I couldn't be happier. It was all that it said it was and more. If I had wanted a reel to compete with the higher dollar reels I would have gotten the higer priced one.Love the anti reverse and instant hook set. The ONLY thing I had to get used to is the distance from the reel seat on the rod to the bail is a little longer that I am use to. A little awkards at first but now I don't even notice. I use this reel alot and it has held up better than expected"

There are better reels out there,January 20, 2009
By hoffafrom So. NH
"I purchased this reel as a combo with a 7' MH Extreme rod. I was using 8# Flouro and it was not flying off the spool as I hoped. Also, the rod squeeks quite a bit when reeling. I have a couple of Diawa Regals as old spares for friends when they want to fish off my boat and they seem to work better than this reel. Just my opinion!"

Very Satisfied,January 13, 2009
By larrymfrom Door County, Wisc
"I got the EX2000B reel for Father's day, 2008, and spooled it with #6 Fireline Crystal, on a medium-light rod for smallmouth bass. It handled may bass, a couple over 5 pounds, very well and casts like a dream with this setup, longer than any other combo I have. I've no complaints at all with this reel, after one season. I fished 2-5 times per week with this setup, without problems. It does help to close the bail manually, as with any spinning reel."

"I got this reel as a combo with the 3 piece 6'6" MH extreme rod. I am very happy with it. I keep it in the truck for those unplanned fishing trips. The reel is very smooth and casts well. I haven't caught anything real big on it yet though, so can't comment on the drag."

Great Item,September 30, 2008
By Fishncrazyfrom Elizabeth, IN
"I purchased this reel last year at the reel trade-in event. I usually use Shimano reels but found out that Shimano wasn't participating in the trade-in event. This reel actually casts easier than my Shimano reels and have had much less line twist. And for the difference in price, you can purchase three or four of these. I haven't had any problems and plan to get another one this Spring. I still can hardly believe the performance for the price!"

"i have a BPS Extreme spinng reel w moderate to low use that just corroded and got rusted bearings; never saw a reel do this as bad or so fast and i have about 10 -12 spinning reels over the years; it was a mess and needs new bearngs now. even the spool lip corroded! unreal! used in salt water, but my other reels dont do this."
