Excellent choice,June 8, 2009
By SnickersDadfrom Port Orange, FL
Advantages: Performs well, Value for money
"I combined this reel with a 6'6" 20-50lb Shimano Tallus (SBA) rod, and 40# clear Ande. I then headed to the Dry Tortugas for some bottom fishing. I caught many fish with the largest being a 53lb Amberjack. In all cases the reel performed great, and the AJ was no match for the reel's smooth drag system. I highly recommend this reel."

Excellent Reel,May 13, 2008
By CaptnChrisfrom San Diego
"I fish out of San Diego and Mulege (Punta Chivato) and this reel hauls in the 30-40 lb dorodo with ease... Super smooth drag that seems to last and last.... perfect when paired with the Kingfish rod...! don't usually write reviews but this is a must for live bait and jigging..."

Saltist Reel - Black,January 1, 2008
By Marzofrom From: San Diego. I fish 12 months out of the year
"For the price, you cannot find a finer reel. I have the Saltigas, but this Saltist Black Reel sure handles well and can sustain a lot of saltwater abuse. I've bought 2 of them and fish constantly here in San Diego and Baja Mexico and these reels are great for the price. Also the finish on the black does not peel off like the silver finish does on the other Saltist reels that are offered in silver color"
