"This is by far the best investment I have ever made to improve my fishing. I say investment because it is expensive, but it is well worth it if you can afford it. I have been using mine for 2 years and it is hard to fathom all of the stuff that I was bypassing because the shoreline did not look promising. This unit's picture really is like looking under the water. I am still impressed and amazed after 2 years. The unit is made very solidly and it has more options that most people could ever use. Humminbird continues to improve the software by including features recommended by users and you can easily update the unit using an SD card with programs downloaded from their website. The unit is customizable to the owners wants and needs. I highly recommend this unit."

"I got mine and installed it last spring. this summer the local crappie club had it's big tournment. I figured everyone would be on there best spots so i drove around(all day) looking under there boats. Marking what I liked and wanted to fish later. my freezer runneth over :)"

"I took my new Humminbird 997C out for a test drive and the views are crystal clear. I had heard proper transducer installation was critical and i will echo that.
I do have a slight darkening on the far right side of the side scan image and will need to drop the right side of the transducer slightly to pick up a complete image. Other than that the unit performed exactly as described.
I located a new brush pile off of a point that I fish all the time and used the waypoint mark to re-locate it. I took my family out the next day and we drove straight to the brush pile and they could see the sonar image of all of the brush. Jealousy set in quickly and I had a big (humble) smile on my face."

Best Fishing Tool I Bought,November 19, 2007

"I do a lot of Salt Water fishing, and this sonar works Great. Off Shore it lets me see under the Kelp Paddys without getting too close. Inshore it shows me every rock and reef that I pass by. It feels like i'm cheating looking under other boaters to see what they are fishing on."
