Advantages: Ease of use, Quality, Value for money, Well made/Durable, waterproof with rain-fly
Disadvantages: wish the case had wheels.

"I bought this for a 2 week long business trip to Montana. I used it along the way and back instead of staying in hotels. It was so easy to use, fits great in my SUV. It downpoured one night and I was comfortable and dry. However, with the rain-fly on the tent, it does get really warm inside during warmer weather.

I used a cot mattress and slept great. Plenty of room to move around and even some extra space for your pack. I highly recommend this tent.

Solo Camping at its best, November 30, 2008
By LTaylor from Sacramento, CA

"I finally purchased one of these units after my brother talked me into it. He's used his for several years now and won't consider sleeping in anything else. The one major modification that he suggests is a 4-inch slab of memory foam inside. He says he sleeps like he's in his bed at home. I'm inclined to agree. I really like the sturdiness of the unit and the substantial hardware. It isn't light, so don't plan on carrying this thing too far, but it you're a car/truck camper like me, then you'll have a hard time finding anything better."

It served me well, August 25, 2008
By MrDamon from Moreno Valley,Ca

"The tent cot is all I needed for a good nights sleep. Though the temps never really got past the mid 40's. I was more than cozy. with the rain cover,,it was HOT. Being that I have a bad back all i need to do is fit an air mattress inside and all is right with the world. I plan to purchase three more and re think the use of a motorhome. tent cots, shower bags and cast iron cooking is how I spent the week at Fairview above Kernville from 8/17-8/23 of 2008. I am more than just satisfied with this product........."

Oversize Tent Cot, July 10, 2008
By Anonymous from Pueblo, CO

"Just got my tent cot yesterday at the new Bass Pro Shop in Denver, CO and I must say it is everything I had hoped it would be. Stayed in it last night in the yard ( I don't like surprises) to check it out and I must say it was snug as a bug. It didn't rain so this morning I turned the garden hose on it for a few minutes and wet it big time and it stayed dry as a bone. I would highly recomend it. We have a lake that we like to fish and it's quite a drive from our home so to make it by daylight we either have to get up at 3 in the morning or go the night before and sleep in the car just for a morning fishing trip. Now we can leave home at dark if we like because the tent is so easy and quick to set up. We can just drag it out of the truck, unfold it and and crawl in and get a good nights sleep. You've got to get you one of these ;0)"

Awesome, May 20, 2008
By rwtaylor

"I just returned from a camping/canoeing trip on the Buffalo River in Arkansas. I purchased the Oversized Tent Cot prior to leaving due to the rocky surfaces that we would be camping on. I was afraid that I would have problems with the Tent Cot fitting into the Canoe. There was no problems and it was perfect for the rocky areas that we camped on. The tempature got down into the 40's at night and with the Rain Fly over the tent, I was completely comfortable. All the other campers with me were jealous of me being able to set up my tent in a fraction of the time it took them. Take down was just as fast. I would recommend the Oversized Tent Cot to anyone.
I would have liked to had a hook of some sort on the top of the inside to hang a light from. Also, the pockets hanging at both ends on the inside seem to me to be facing backwards. Also, a good accessory for this item would be a waterproof storage bag. I had to cover the storage bag (doubled) in large plastic bags to keep dry while canoeing. Other than that, this product is awesome.

Great tent, April 22, 2008
By TruckCamper from Seabrook, TX

"I just used my oversize Tent for the first time and it performed beautifully. The first night, it rained for almost four hours and stayed bone dry with the rain fly on. On the second night, temperatures dipped down into the mid-40s and I stayed very warm with minimal cover. On the third night, it was in the mid-50s and I was so warm I didn't cover up with anything. When I woke up, it was about 60 degrees outside and I was sweating inside the tent cot since I had all of the doors shut.
I'm a big guy and slept great every night. I did add a 1.5 inch thick self-inflating sleeping pad, which I think is a must in order to get a good night's rest. The pre-installed pad is just too hard for my liking.
With all doors closed, the tent does not breathe very well, so condensation does occur on the inside on cool and cold nights. A couple hours with the doors rolled up takes care of this, though.
This was also the talk of camp. Everyone thought it was the coolest thing they had ever seen. A number of people said they would be purchasing one before our next trip in December.
I was very pleased with my first use of the oversize Tent Cot. It exceeded my expectations in all areas and I would recommend it to anyone that has room to transport it and isn't going to be carrying it far from their vehicle when camping.

SImpler is Better, October 24, 2007
By Bret from Texas

"Sometimes simpler is better.
This common statement is very true when it comes to carp fishing gear. We as a whole carry a lot of gear. I’m fairly scaled down myself, but even at my level of gear, I sometimes look like a flea-market exploded on the bank.
When it came time to purchase a new shelter, I did a little research on a little known product make by Kamp-Rite known as a Tentcot. This thing looked crazy, but seemed quite practical.
It was also affordable. $170 at Bass Pro Shops for the “Oversize” including carry bag and rainfly, seems quite reasonable.
Upon unpacking the box at the house I was instantly impressed. This thing was built. It was better material than my current tent, and gave the feeling that I was holding a well made product. I had to see it up, in about 5 minutes I had it set up for the first time in my yard. 5 Minutes! I swapped it from lounge to cot to tent and back and forth several times just to get the feel for it. Everything went quick and easy. Finally, something new that is also simple.
This past weekend was my first in the Tentcot. 51 hours on the bank is not a long time, but it is even easier when your shelter is up so quickly. I was able to set it up in one location in the shade as a lounge during the day, and due to the lightweight, move it right where I wanted it near my pod while asleep.
Here is what you’ll want to hear if you’re thinking about one. “This was simply the best I’ve ever slept on the bank”.
It vents on all four sides for warm nights, and when it closes up for cold nights, it does well (even better with the rainfly). Temperature was only in the 50’s this weekend, but I slept on my sleeping bag instead of in it. It was small enough that warmth stayed in and close.
Knowing I was 11 inches off the ground was very comforting. Rats, centipedes, snakes, rocks, dampness, and a million other things were safely under me, and not trying to get in my tent.
Now, believe me there are a couple problems. For starters, this thing is not tiny when folded up. It is pretty much the same size as a folded cot or bedchair. Along the same lines, while it is light enough to move around the bank (even while set up, and without taking it down) it is not exactly light to carry to and from the bank. The “Oversize I have weighs in at around 19lbs. If you are in the Tentcot, with the main flaps open and vents down, you will be required to open the vents to close the main flaps (the main flaps are poutside the vents). Also you will want some sort of cot pad to sleep on (much like any cot) These are my only complaints though. Not enough for me to worry about.
A couple last minute notes. I’m 6’1”, and 225 lbs, I fit in the Tentcot very comfortably. I can sit up inside it with my legs crossed and can sit and put my shoes on easily. If used correctly, this could be the ultimate stealth camper. Leaving it set up as a lounge during the day, then spending the 5 minutes required to set the tent portion up after dark would be a simple task and would go quite unnoticed.
I am already looking forward for my next chance to use it.
Simpler is better indeed.

Oversize Tent Cot, February 28, 2007
By Sweinhart from Melbourne, FL

"The oversize tent cot is the way to go if you want comfort and dependability. I started with the standard tent cot and loved it., but being 6'2" and 240 #, I found that the oversized version was just perfect on weekend packing trips. I loved it so much, I bought a double tent cot so my wife can experience the great outdoors with me without having to deal with blow up matresses, rocks under your tent, and the inevitable flood that everyone has experienced during a rainfall while trying to sleep in a conventional tent. I have never slept so well knowing that I was 11" off of the ground and away from those creepy crawleys that come visiting in the night. While the price might give you cause for concern, once you experience the restful sleep you can get in a tent cot, it's well worth the money. I own all three and can't wait to see what they come up with next."
