Solid rod, October 22, 2009
By oregonfisher from North oregon coast

Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Value for money
Disadvantages: Difficult to use

"I purchased the 9' med 12-30 lb test 1-5 oz. rod for redtail perch in the surf on the north oregon coast. Casts up to 6 oz. fine, rod is a little stiff for the 1-3lb. perch, but gets your bait out there just fine. I have used this rod for almost every species available here. Casting 2-3oz iron to pods of jumping albacore, it performed great, fish up to 20lbs. really pushed the rod, but I was still able to control the fish. Great for jetty fishing, I've hauled 5 lb. rockfish up a thirty foot cliff with this rod, and the tip is soft enough to work 1 oz. jigs on a rough rocky bottom. And lately, with fall salmon season here, I have been using it to cast 1-2 oz. jigging spoons for coho. The great casting distance lets me work huge shallow flats in the estuary quickly, and the rod pulls in 8-15 lb. coho no problem, although it does take the fight out of the smaller fish. The only disadvantages are that the top half can come loose if you don't completely seat it in the bottom half, and with a large reel, there is some line slap issue, but both of these are very minor. Overall, for the money, a great rod for a wide variety of situations."

Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Value for money

"i dont fish much from the shore but I use this for fishing power plant discharge. I catch many big cats and stripe bass. I throw anything from 1 1/2 to 4 oz. The action is good and the sensitivity. I can throw big topwater and to heavy shad for catfish. It dont matter which dam I go to I can reach the big ones nobody else can reach. I plan to get another soon."

Good for Small Fish , Bad for Big Fish, July 12, 2007
By CFC

"Good Rod if the quality is better. Caught lots of fish with this rod but this rod can't handle Big Fish , the rod will snap just like mine did when I caught a Big One. $$$ to the garbage can. I don't recommend buying this."

Nice rods, February 28, 2007
By Paulie from Boston

"Daiwa make good quality rods and the Emblem is no different. I just bought the MH 11footer. Haven't cast it yet. But I can tell by the action of the taper, it can haul lead out there with no problems. The rod is very solid and should last you for a very long time. I think my investment will pay for itself. Can't wait to cast it in April!"
