Toughest Rod Ever Built,
February 27, 2009
By basser25

"I have a couple and they are invincible. They are pretty sensitive and I accidentally dragged one along some hog panel when it was strapped to a quad. I heard it and was sure I'd broken it, but I'm still catching fish on the same rod. Get one."

Good rod for the money,
May 2, 2008
By DTfisher

"With a very low budget, my fiance & I had to think of getting the best bang for the buck. I owned an Ugly Stick when I was younger. The hype got me. I liked them back then. We got one for each of us. The action is light & the rod will make a smaller fish feel larger. however, the fact you have to worry so much less about snapping these, you should be able to use these for a very long time. My fiance & I are planning on getting a trigger version as well. They have too long of a life not to. We will get more expensive rods sometime but these will stay in our hearts as the best rod for the money!!! If you have a low budget, do yourself a favor & get one of these. Great gift as well!"

Best Rod For The Money,

By FishnCatch

"I've been fishing an Ugly Stik as long as I can remember so when it came time to buy my son his first rod the choice was simple! Unmatched quality at a real bargain of a price. I don't see any reason to buy any other brand...Ugly Stik has earned my loyalty!"

By bigpapamd1

"have the 6ft MH rod rate between 8-20lb and its has enough backbone to use 3-4oz sinkers without it being overwhelmed. caught several blues as well as well as medium size stripers (18 to 27 inches) with no problem. when the ches-bay is normal i use this rod , otherwise i will use me 2pc 7ft tiger rod which is heavier but will handle 6oz sinkers as well as 50lb stripers!!!"

"It may be called an ugly stick, but there is nothing ugly about its preformance. I have the 6 foot med. action and loved it so much I went back and got his big brother the 5 foot big water ugly stick. Combined with my Quantum reels the fish don't stand a chance. The rods are vertually unbreakable and rattle around the back of my pickup and on my boat all the time. They take abuse and keep on working great. I would recommend them anyone and for sure those of you fishing wih kids and grandkids. Happy Fishing ya'll"

The original and still the best,
January 12, 2007
By bassharrier
from Altoona Pa.

"For over 20 years now, I have depended on my six foot classic Ugly Stik while pursuing huge bass.
With it's parobolic action, the whole blank fights the fish instead of the top 1/3 of it as in a faster taper rod. This is the action i'm looking for in a big bass rod.
From my experience Shakesphere isn't to good with their reccomended weight ratings. I have cast musky size jitterbugs (1 1/4oz) easily. And i'm sure it could handle more.
Although i've had some of the newer ugly stik's that I hated and given away, These are keepers.
Thanks BP for offering these. I think i'll buy the 6 1/2 foot one now."
