19 lb. Snook on topwater plug.
"First, the good points. This rod is well built as with all the St. Croix rods I have purchased. It is nice and light with a straight grip butt (no hump) Fuji handle with a stainless hook keeper. It also has large diameter guides which are essential when using a long leader tied directly to your line. Although it has good backbone, I do not care for the "soft" tip which I suppose is because of the SCII graphite. I prefer the crispness of the SCIII graphite such as is used on the "Avid" series of rods. This aside, I think it is a good rod and would be very well suited to fishing open flats. The soft tip will likely throw a plug a little further, but most of my fishing is around treed shoreline where the crisp action of the SCIII makes for better accuracy. It's a bit expensive, but the "Legend" inshore series with it's SCIV graphite and titanium guides fits the bill for me perfectly. As mentioned, I hope they will come out with an "Avid" inshore rod. Somewhere between the "Tidemaster" and the "Legend" with a more modest pricepoint."

great rod,October 6, 2008
By FISHrfrom Jacksonville, Florida
"ive paired this rod up with a abu garcia revo inshore. its one of the best combos i have. I purchased the 8-17 medium aciton moderate power rod. its got great sensitivity and awesome backbone. you can really put some heat on those mogan reds or feel the bite of the sneaky trout. i would defntly suggest pairing this rod with a abu garcia revo inhshore."

Great for Freshwater too!,February 19, 2008
By BassJunkyfrom Kingston, On
"With no salt water around me I find it funny I own a tidemaster rod...but Im glad I do, it has more backbone then most freshwater rods as it is meant for pulling monsters into the the shoreline, I do find the top portion od the rod to be a but to soft, so it is great for spoons but not ready to rip cranks and spinnerbaits....a great choice if you find your self doing battle from the shoreline"

Finally got the rod Ineeded,September 22, 2007
By pigfarmerfrom Jensen Beach, Florida
"I tried purchasing this rod online, but someone in the shipping department liked it too. They stole the original rod and shipped me a three foot trolling rod in it's place. After a few months, I finally got my money back. Then I went down to Outdoor World In Ft Lauderdale and found the rod. I bought the 8 ft heavy duty casting rod for fishing at the beach and throwing a 1.5 oz spoon. I fish for bluefish, snook, tarpon, shark or whatever else shows up at the beach. It's a super light rod that allows you to cast for hours without weary you out. The heavy duty part allows you to set the hook right after a long cast which often happens in the surf. The 5 year warrantee makes the rod a good buy. St Croix stands behind their product. Invest in a great rod."
