"Reels like these remind me of why I'm such a die-hard Abu Garcia fan.
These Big Game reels offer stronger than ever gears and the best drag Abu Garcia has ever built. I only wish they offered brass sideplates like they used to. Still, great reels!"

"This is a high quality reel the likes that you don't expect in this price range of reel. the quality that you get with this Model you would expect to pay in the $300.00 dollar range. it is a great reel. The handling is very responsive to your moves, and casting into the wind is not a problem. I brought in a 13lb. Red Snapper and a 21lb. Red fish and was a breeze."

Big Reel for Big Fish,September 6, 2007

"I often go tuna fishing, which demands a reel with a very powerful drag and a reel that can stand up to the constant beating of hauling in large yellowfin tuna and the corrosion of saltwater. For 12 years, I have striven to find the perfect reel for my tuna fishing, and finally I have found this one. Other reels I used (except Penn's and a Shimano Calcutta) had their sleeves broken, and the insides all beat up and damaged after a long day of fighting those big yellowfins. The bearings would also rust, but this reel maintained it's great performance, each time like I had just gotten it. After every couple of trips, it's good to lube it up just a little, and spray some reel magic on the line and reel right before you go. Then after you finish fishing in saltwater, gently spray water onto the reel, as a heavy stream will force the salt deeper in the components, and makes it worse than never cleaning it at all. I will never trust another reel to tuna fishing than this reel. Great product Abu Garcia! By the way, the outfit is an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 2007 Big Game Reel on a G. Loomis Pelagic rod, or a Shimano Tallus Bluewater RSA, with 100 lb. test Power Pro braided line. Never lost a tuna yet!"

"I just purchased this not to long ago from bass pro shop and i was going to use it for catfish. i finally caught him!!!!!!!!!!!!! it was a 62 pound flathead catfish i had been chasing my whole life. i had hooked him countless times before and the reels i had couldnt hang on to him. i use it on a 8ft heavy rodand use bass pro shops excel braided 50 pound line with a monofilament leader i made. it handled him perfectly and reeled him right in.thanks abu garcia and bass pro shop best reel ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
