When the first Lightning Rod® hit the market in 1984 a legend was born. Today, the Lightning Rod is still known as one of the best sticks around -- and now it's lighter, stronger, and faster than ever! The high graphite content in its advanced IM-6 blank delivers plenty of lightweight sensitivity while titanium-coated guide frames with stainless steel inserts enable smooth, accurate casting with very little line wear. Optimal balance and superior sensitivity at a price that's hard to beat!Action:M = Medium MH = Medium Heavy

Great product,October 25, 2009
By wberryfrom Statesboro, GA
Advantages: Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"Lightweight, sensitive, comfortable.
I cast anything from light to heavy lures with it and it performs great. The MH is stiff enough to haul even the big guys out of the slop and sensitive enough to feel the finesse bite.
No wear on the guides thus far even with heavy line. The cork handle is nice and soft and holds up to water and sunlight well. I dont always take the best care of my equipment but this is holding up great for me.
At this price I dont know if you could find a better value."

Awsome rod,October 24, 2009
By HailStone
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality, Style/Design, Value for money
"I bought this instead of the BPS graphite rod and was the best decision I made. It is strong and durable but at the same time sensitive enough to feel the smallest bite. Take my advice, spend the extra $5."

Great Rod,April 12, 2009
By DinTNfrom East Tennessee
"Bought one of these for the wife to use in the river for all species of fish. I got the 5'6" model casts really well with good feel, seems alot lighter than the Cherrywood i fish with if you care about that sort of thing. I think for the everyday non-tournament user this rod is hard to beat for less than $75. Cant go wrong for $35"

11lbs. largemouth, 6'6" MH, ABU CARDINAL 102 & 10lbs. test triline XL
"I am an American made man but after doing some research I found that many rod companies that boast Made in America in order to sale rods are in fact not entirely made in America. Granted many are but you have to pay 3-4X what you would for a Berkley. The only thing I would like to see is Fuji guides on these rods. There are nothing wrong with the ones on the rod I just enjoy fishing with fuji rods. I have this rod 6' MH paired with an ABU Ambassaduer 5601 spooled with 65lbs. test Power Power and use. Triline Flouro leaders 14lbs. test. I HAVE DRUG SMALL TREES TO THE BANK AND BOAT NOTHING GIVE. The biggest I've caught on the casting rod is 5 lbs. My old rod also a lightning rod spinning 6'6" M paired with a Abu 102 spooled with 10lbs. triline XL caught an 11lbs. but unfortunately I was letting a friend use it cause his rod and reels where hurtin', he know owns it because he tanted my rod."

great rod,June 26, 2008
By jcob08from south carolina
"have not got the chane to use this rod yet. but have preformed numorous tests on it. first of all i got the 6' medium heavy casting version for pulling big carolina bass out of heavy cover. the rod is conftorable with the cork handles and is sensetive and sturdy. i have been able to bend it a full 180 degrees with out any cracking or permament bending."

A fun rod to fish with,April 7, 2008
By SoCalFishermansLocal420from La Mirada, Calif.
"I got the 5'6" medium action version of this rod. It was last years model, so it was on sale for like $13. I love this thing. I keep this rod in my trunk at all times, you know, "just in case". This rod works great for everything from shaky head to spinnerbaits. I caught a 5 pounder on this rod and it felt like a 10 pounder. It's not the best for hook-sets, but when you've got one on, it's a blast. You can't beat this one for the price."

"I have used the berkley pistol grip lightning rod for several years , and I can tell you I've never had another fishing rod to come close to the quality of this Berkley rod no matter what the price or brand. This is the perfect largemouth bass rod on the market today, I have caught bass with this rod in the eleven pound range, and 22 pound striped bass, I especially like the pistol grip handle, as far as I'm concerned the trigger handles are better for surf fishing in the ocean than for fresh water fishing. With that said as long as berkley keeps making these rods, it's certainly the one for me ."

Excellent Value,October 11, 2007
By Redbirdfrom Irving, Texas
"My greatest criterion in the decision to purchase fishing gear is value. I just purchased my 12th lightning rod. There is no greater value in rods than this one. For the vast majority of fishermen/women, striking the optimal balance in price and performance is essential. We don't spend fortunes (although I used to), but we demand quality. If this sounds like you, then you'll find in the ligthning rod your best choice. I've bought the gamit of rods over the last twenty years. I mean tons of 'em, from $20 to $200. They're all standing in the corner of my garage or eventually sold in a garage sale. My 8 ready-to-go rigs are all lightning rods. Get it, fish it. Stop looking for a better value. The backbone, price and sensitivity balance is not to be had in another rod."
