"For the last 40 years I‘ve used an ABU Garcia 5500C for all of my baitcasting needs. The old 5500C has been a great quality reel that has served me well. Due to limited time, I primarily find myself mostly catfishing these days on the Ohio River around Louisville, KY. Thanks to the excellent fishery on the river I’ve found myself catching larger and larger catfish (15lb and up) that was really putting a big strain on the 5500C. Therefore I decided a much larger reel was needed and purchased the ABU Garcia 7000C3i. This reel has been fantastic. I’ve had no casting backlash problems with it, is a really smooth operating workhorse, and looks as impressive as it functions. I would highly recommend this reel to anyone who is looking for a quality reel to go after those large fresh or saltwater lunkers."

"Some of my saltwater fishing buddies told me that I would not be satisfied using a baitcast reel. I did my online research about baitcast reels and found the Abu Garcia 7000C3i through Bass Pro Shop.With a little practice in my yard and some tutorial videos found on Youtube, I had the hang of it! This past weekend I fished the Indian River Inlet, Delaware. The Abu Garcia gave me the distance that I didn't have before. There were a few birds nests, but this is to be expected. I'm really glad I trusted my instincts and purchased this reel. DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE BAITCASTER!!!!!!!!"

"I have put this reel through quite a bit since having it. It can handle anything under 200pds except tuna( not sure it won't blow up) I've caught 5 foot sharks, no problem. Still going strong. Have 80 pd spiderwire topshotted(is that a word??) with 50 pd backwater country by Ande. Love it! The clicker sticks sometimes but just engage the hanlde and it snaps in place."

"I have this reel paired up on a 12 ft St. Croix Mojo Surf Rod and ABSOLUTELY love it!!!! holds a tremendous amount of line, i have 30 lb line with a 50 lb leader and can easily cast 80 to 90 yards with 4 ounces. Great reel, smooth, no backlash, deftinately reccommend to everyone!"

"I use my Abu Garcia 7000ic3 for paddle fish snagging and could never get it to backlash like my penn 309. I found that my 7000ic3 like everything else I have ever owned made from Abu is worth every penny and is always ready for whats in store. I would also suggest getting a good line because the reel is still only a reel but line is probably just as important same goes with the rod."

"I purchased this reel paired with a 7-1/2 ft MH rod for fighting large Redfish and Black Drum at the jetties. The line capacity is amazing. I put 250 yards of 20# P-Line on the reel. That adds a lot to your peace of mind when fighting large fish! The quality of this reel is apparent. It operates easily and is easily cleaned after use. I would appear capable of handling Kings and Snapper on those rare days smooth enough to venture offshore with my Bay boat."

"The reel is good for fishing in the surf. It is smooth and far casting. I paired it up a Star 10' casting rod and it works like a dream! I can catch stripers, rays, and small 2 med. sized sharks all day long. I recomend using Power Pro Braid. The only disadvantage is that it is kind of heavy."

Centrifugal Brake Miscount

"Overall the reel is fantastic. The drag is smooth and powerful. The reel cast remarkably far and smooth for its size.
The workmanship is good. The anti-reverse engages smoothly and instantly off from freespool with the turn of the handle. So you don't have to flick a switch.
The only thing I don't like is how this reel is being advertised, as having a 6-pin centrifugal brake when there's actually only 4 pins inside?
Regardless, this reel is a must have
if you want to go after the big ones."

"I reluntantly bought the reel because the one I really wanted was out of stock and I needed another combo for a trip I was taking. I paired it with St. Croix casting rod and I use it primarily for Striped Bass and Blues. The reel itself looks great, holds a ton of line and is very smooth. The issues I have with the reel are the same ones I have with just about every Abu product I've owned - quality of contruction. The clicker broke almost immediately and the flip switch to cast and free-spool doesn't always click. Sometime I have to wiggle the spool a bit to get the the lever engaged. Like I said, the reel is strong and smooth but it's the little things that prevent this reel from being the great buy it appears to be."

"I've recently purchased two of these Abu Garcia 7000 C3i on Ugly Stik Tiger rods for catfishing. On my second trip I caught a 47# 43 inch blue catfish. I couldn't believe how smooth this reel was under the pressure of fighting this monster. Amazing drag! I like this reel far better than the Penn 320 GT. I have 6 Abu Garcia Ambassaduer 5600 C4, 5 Abu Garcia Revo S, and 1 Revo SX...They've never failed me with weekly use. I count on them, and so should you! C.P.R.!"

Everything is as it should be, even better. My old mag still works and have worked for 10 years now. No it doesnt look like it did 10 years ago, but it works just as great!!! This is a very longcasting reel and when putting it on a rod no matter what rod this reel looks and feels to good for its rod, it feels like all quality. I cant express myself better. This reel costs 150$+ in U.S.A and the satisfaction I realized how cheap that was. This reel loves to pull in big fishes and makes me wanna go fish more often.""

"This reel is "the reel" when it comes to baitcasting, ive used ambassadeur mag series before and loved it so bought this one not from this site though but there is nothing at all to complain about. everything is as it should. pehaps better ,and my old mag II still works and have worked for 6 years now.. no it doesnt look like it did 6 years ago but works just as great!!! This is a very longcasting reel and when putting it on a rod no matter what rod this reel looks and feels to good for its rod, it feels like pure quality. cant express myself better. This reel costs 200$+ in Sweden and the satisfaction I got after landing my second Cod on 26kg (my personal record btw), I realized how cheap that was. This reel loves to pull in big fishes and makes me wanna go fish more often."
