"I use this light primarily for running and with my 5 yr old son. We have the ones that strap to your head, but those bounce while running and have to be adjusted for each of us to share. This slides on/off in less than 1 second. Great at the beach for the kids finding crabs, camping and I use it for grilling at night. It even fits my sons visor on his bike helmet. I've given this as a gift a few times and was suprised it wasn't a 5 of 5 for all reviews. I've used the existing batteries for probably 20+ hours over 10 months. Looks like 1 reviewer just got a bad one & should have returned it. If you are considering this light I'd strongly recomend."

"This is a fairly inexpensive lesson to be learned from. I bought this light just because it was the least expensive one they had. I installed the coin batteries and turned it on. Worked great. Turned it off and put it on the shelf. When I went to use it again about 3 days later, it wouldn't come on. I changed the batteries and it worked fine again. I checked it the next day, the batteries were dead again. I returned it for an exchange. EXACT same results. It's cheap for a reason!!!!"

"I love this light, its bright, light weight and inexpensive. The only reason Im giving it 4 stars and not 5 is its almost too bright, for me it causes "night blindness". I personaly prefer the NightVision brand green cap light a little better."

Bad for my hats,June 5, 2008

"My hats all have to much bend in the bill so when I try to put this on it wouldn't fit. I'm going to stick to one with a headband. However the 5 led lights are very bright so that's why it's getting 3 stars."

"I bought two of these for dusk/night fishing since they had a low price. They worked fine for awhile, but both of them had two of the 5 LED's stop working after a while, so now they are 3 LED Hat lights with less light. I guess you get what you pay for!"

"I received this for Christmas. I can see how you need to be careful with thick brimmed caps. It works great! Really handy when you need both hands or are working in a confined space where you need light. I took the batteries out when not in use just because of the reviews. I'm not sure it's really necessary though."

"Great little light for the price. The clips are plastic and you have to be gentle with them. I've used it for 2 night tournaments and work in a dark attic and the batteries are holding up fine. I do not have to remove the batteries between uses."

"I bought the 5 led cap light to work with and use during hunting season. This is no doubt the worse light ever. The first one i thought i broke, bought another one and it did the same thing. On both lights if you leave the batteries in them they will draw them down. The light is no good to me if you cant leave the battery in it. Dont buy this light"

"Not a good product. I put the batteries in it right after I bought it and it worked. Later that night I put it on a hat and it didn't work. It seemed like I could put pressure on it (on the battery cover) and it would start to work and then it just died altogether. This things a piece a junk and I'm exchanging it today. Don't waste your time with it."

"I laughed and laughed at hubby's "Hat Headlights". That is till he gave me some for my pink fishing hat. These lights are perfect for night fishing and also absolutely perfect for knitters! I sat on the dock and fished till midnight while knitting lace! Perfect lighting! I recommend these lights to all crafters for in the car usage also. Great item!"

"Had only used the LED hat light only twice and the clips broke. Bought another one and the first time it was used it broke also. BPS did offer to replace but wasn't worth the trouble."

"I just got my light and wanted to test it out. I installed the batteries included with the light. It worked fine while I tested it for about 5 min. The next day I wanted to show my wife how bright it was. When I turned on the switch, nothing happened. The batteries were completely dead. I had to go out a purchase two more for almost what I paid for the light. I was very disappointed with yet another Bass Pro Shop product. I would not reccomend this product to anyone. Sure hope the new batteries last long enough to snowblow my driveway."

"The light is a lot brighter than I expected, and is very convenient to use. Only 2 drawbacks that I can complain about: 1) When it is chilly out (which it usually is in my part of the country in early morn or at night), the steam from your breath will rise up into the light beam and make seeing near impossible unless you hold your breath. 2) The batteries don't last as long as I expected (only about 8-10 hours) and they are very expensive to replace.
When I use the light now, I only turn it on for short periods to see where I'm going/what I'm doing and then turn it back off to conserve batteries.
I still would recommend this light for the exceptional convenience of "hands-free" lighting for fishing and hunting.
