Chene Chene® Anchors

Zinc-coated solid steel construction For freshwater or saltwater environments 4x the holding power of conventional anchors The unique shank configuration rotates a full 90°, allowing the flukes (sharp points that dig into the bottom) to penetrate deeply with a full 45° set. This 45° angle ensures a greater holding surface and enables the anchor to perform best with approximately a 2:1 line-to-depth ratio. The anchor is made with solid steel, high-tensile-strength construction. All welds extend the entire length, on both sides, of all adjoining surfaces. Zinc coating protects against the harshest environments including saltwater. 4 times more holding power than other anchors; 100% retrievable. It also requires 70% less anchor line (only 1-1/2 to 2 times anchor line-to-depth ratio). Slip-ring design allows for easy retrieval. It's strong, lightweight, and comes with a manufacturer's lifetime guarantee. Anchor line not included.

Some times like the outher day I STUMBULED ONTO A STRETCH OF NICE BEDDING BLUEGILLS. iT WAS WINDY OUT AND i WANTED TO STAY ON THAT SPOT SO I TRIED OUT MY NEW ANCHOR. iT WORKED PERFECTELY WITH A LOT LESS ROPE. tHE REASON i BOUGHT IT WAS TO SAVE SPACE IN MY BOAT AND ELIMINATE EXCESS WEIGHT. iF YOU CANNOT AFFORD A HIGH PRICED PRO POLE REMOTE ANCHORINMG SYSTEM i HIGHELY RECOMEND THIS LIGHT WEIGHT ANCHOR."

Bad Purchase

Advantages: Durability
Disadvantages: Performance
"I wish that I would have read some reviews before purchasing 2 of these anchors. I have a Pro Guide V16 and could not hold the boat with 2 of the 6 pounders. Just 1 of these is supposed to hold a 30 foot boat, who are you kidding. The only thing that these anchors were good for was to snag about 50 pounds of weeds and drag them along with you. With these 2 anchors out with about 75 feet of rope out in 14 feet of water, I was drifting at about 1/2 mph according to my gps. This purchase was a real waste of money."

Advantages: Design, Value for money, light weight
"After having lost a dozen or so anchors over the past twenty years of fishing I finally came to my senses and purchased an anchor that is 100% retrievable in a wide variety of bottom conditions. I have an 18ft. Crestliner Pike boat. This anchor holds it well with less rope out than traditional anchors. And best of all, it is light enough that my anchor winch doesn't grunt and groan when retrieving it. Its a good investment for the money."

"I have used the anchor on one fishing trip. The first two times it was lowered it would not hold, as it came off of the anchor winch it dropped blades up and would not grab. The next two times I used it I made sure it dropped blades first nand it held both times. This was in the river, I will know better when I go to the bay this weekend. I also bought the anchor for 30 to 35 foot boat. I first bought on for aup to a 30foot boat and returned it. I was sure it would not hold my 21 foot boat."

Holds like glue!

Advantages: Design, Durability, High Quality
Disadvantages: needs length of chain to work correctly
"Works great and holds on most everything that it lands in. The secret to this anchor is to have about 4-5ft of chain to let it lay down. This is key to it working correctly. Again, you MUST have a length of chain to lay it down so it can properly "dig" in. Even on windy days it will hold if you use it correctly. If it gets in too good, find the direction you are in in relation to the anchor and drive the boat to other side and the anchor will come right up. Oh yea, Did I mention the chain part?"

"Can't understand all the problems some guys are having ! All you need to do is ADD 4 or 5 ft of chain to your anchor lead and let out enough line and this anchor will stick in just about any bottom . I have used these anchors for 15 or more years !! have no problem not holding , wind always blows in Okla ."

Disadvantages: Difficult to use, Performance, Quality
"This is what the reviews are for, to read...so you know a little something about the product. I have heart disease and was looking for a anchor that I would not have to strain to remove. Well, I found it....will not be a problem with this one as I must have tried to set it 20 times with NO sets. Sure glad I had my old Danforth in the boat. I got the 7lb for 31 to 35' boats thinking it would surely work on my 20' aluminum boat.......NOT!!!!! It is very nice of Bass Pro to post these users comments and I will definately use them for all future purchases! Sure hope I still have the paperwork so I can return this thing."

"I wanted to try a new anchor as I lose 1 or so a year. I have tried this anchor 3 different days, no wind, some wind and different bottom surfaces. All I did was drag the bottom after about 30 min each time I gave up. I will be returning it as it will not work AT ALL. If I could give it no stars it would get none. Do not waste your money or time."

No Good! (Thumbs Down)

Disadvantages: Performance
"100% useless - I originally ordered this anchor for my size boat. When it arrived it looked very small but figured it was so high tech, it didn't need to be larger. Well it took forever to hookup and it was never a solid hook. Re-ordered the largest size available thinking it just needed to be larger and heavier. Horrible again. Save your money!!! My Specs: 23' boat, North Atlantic (NY), sand and rock bottom. Failed miserably on all bottoms. Couldn't even snag it in the rocks."

"I thought it would be a good lightweight anchor that does not take up a whole lot of space, and is easy to retrieve. This anchor is totally, completely, 100% useless! I tried it as recommended without a chain. I could not get it to hold. I added a chain. I could not get it to hold. I used the recommended 1 1/2 to 2 times length of rope for the depth. I could not get it to hold. I used increments up to 7 times the depth to rope ratio. I could not get it to hold. Tried it in sand, clay, muck, gravel, slightly weedy, and very weedy bottoms. I could not get it to hold in any of those conditions! If I could give this item 0 stars, I would. It is no wonder that this anchor is easy to retrieve. It never holds! I replaced it with a cheap danforth style anchor which great in every type of bottom I've tried it in. I should have read the reviews before I purchased this item."

"This anchor does not hold as advertised and makes a better drift sock than an anchor. The 4lb anchor does not hold my 16' boat solid in boat wakes let alone any current. If you buy one get the next larger size or the biggest one made or better yet an anchor made by someone differant!"

"I only have a 16' boat, but this anchor just won't hold. I tried it with no chain like it says on the description and it won't hold. So I put on 4' of chain and it wouldn't hold. It would hold just as well just dragging the chain and leaving the anchor at home. However because it won't grab anything it does make it easy to retrieve, I'm just not sure why you would want to."

4lb Doesn't Hold my 18' Deep V

"The 4# does not hold my 18' targa if there is any wind, even when using more line than they say is necessary. Anchor is easily retrieved. I like the design, but I think they underestimate the size needed for a given boat length. Thinking of getting the next size up and for the times that wouldn't hold I would have two to use."

Very good buy

"For such a small and lightweight anchor, it does a fantastic job. I use it with a 21ft Mako on muddy river bottoms and it has done very well. I generally use about 100 feet of rope with a 3 foot chain attached in anywhere from 15 to 45 feet of water. This is on a main river with wind and wave action and seldom does the boat drag the anchor. It's also easy to retrieve when it's time to leave. Very impressive for its size."
