"This is a great reel for the price! It loses its casting distance after a short while but its still good. I accidently hooked on to an 8' FL gator and actually winched him all the way to the shore with this reel and 17lb Trilene XT! The hook finally bent out though. Talk about strength, the drag never even struggled."

"I had just started throwing a baitcast reel about 1 year ago. I was having all kinds of problems with it back-lashing. A friend told me to try a Revo. I bought one and it fit in my hand perfect. With a little practice I was able to cast it 9 out of 10 times with no backlash. I now have 6 of them and I am getting ready to buy my 7th one. I think this reel is great for the beginner or an expert pro. I would give it 10 stars but they will only let me give it 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!! IT IS WORTH THE MONEY"

"I recently decided to switch to baitcasters after finally having enough with spinning reels and line twist. I learned with an entry level Daiwa, and I decided to buy a quality reel. I decided on the Revo based on price and reviews. I was a little afraid that I should have shelled out the extra $50 for the SX and get the mag brake. Now that I have the reel, I'm glad I didn't. After some practice with a plug. I spent an evening casting a size 10 XRAP for walleye. It never once backlashed, despite my inexperience with a baitcaster. I caught two walleyes, by the way, on a lake I don't really know. I attribute that to the Revo. It casted so easy, I had the lure in the water alot more than I ever did before. Don't be afraid to buy this reel and don't be afraid to buy the S. I will buy another one."

"I have 4 of these reels and they keep performing day in and day out. They remain smooth when cranking and have excellent cast controls. I can use a 1/4oz. bait or a 3/4oz. bait and never adjust the cast control. Each of my Revo-s reels obtain this quality. They handle braid or mono equally well. These reels are extremely versatile and durable. They have held up to long struggles with rockfish and never miss a beat, and with a head turning 24lbs of drag pressure, you can stop him in his tracks.I would be equally satisfied if this reel were to cost 50.00 dollars more."

"This is just an amazing reel for just over $100. If you have not tried a Revo, even this one, the cheapest of them all, will show you how good they are. I own many shimano reels up to the Chronarch 51 mg, and this reel can go toe to toe with any of them. As some of the other reviewers have remarked the Revos in general and especially the S can be tough to get used to, particularly if you are used to shimanos where you set 2 brakes on and forget about them. Once I got my S (I own 3 btw) dialed in, it was just awesome casting. I still have to be more careful thumbing the spool than you do with my shimanos, but overall the casting performance is equal or greater. They are also extremely ergonomic and fairly light, making them a joy to fish with all day. This is an extremely powerful reel as well as evidenced by the 24 pounds of drag. The drag is extremely smooth over all setting as well. I have had one for over a year and used it in light saltwater and a lot in freshwater, and it still performs like a champ with the only wear being a light boat rash expected of any reel. There is no reel even close to the Revo S at this price point, period. If this reel stood alone in the Revo series and cost $200, you'd probably still be happy with it if you purchased it."

"Very good value for the money at the $100 price point. I have had this reel for months, and it is still performing like new.
Good long cast, easy retrieve. Brakes work ok, but I use a little thumb to keep it from nesting up on me. Works like a champ, just have to clean and oil it from time to time."

"i now own 4 of the revo S reels. i use them for small mouth and walleye. for smallies i run 8 lb mono and the walleye 20lb braid. this reel does every thing from, casting 1/8 ounce speed traps to jiging 1/2 ounce jigs for the walleye. for the price it simply can't be beat. p.s make sure to set the casting brakes..."

"ok reel. very smooth. but unfortunately results in overwinds nearly every time i fish it. I have tried different line diameters and heavier lures but it hasn't really helped. "I bought this today from one of our dealers around here, brought it home, put some hot sauce on it and brought it out to the lake.I have never really casted with a baitcaster and after about the first hour I really got the hang of it and was able to cast side ways over hand all more with out to many birds nests or anything. The more I practice the farther It will cast but I is smooth, The heavyier the bait the farther it goes, but no real trouble with light one either.I beleive I will be very happy with this reel and you get 10 bucks back plus a long sleeve shirt so thats cool. I would recommend this to all anglers.. Also i put 12 pd trilene xl and it is smooth..."
