"Firstly, I would like to say this is a good reel. I have personally put mine through its paces and it still works well. I gave it a four out of five because it has developed a slight "knock". However, I do not expect the ultimate in refinement at this price point. Neither should you.
What you will get is a solid reel with a very strong drag. Its small size and and low profile make it easy to handle and techniques like "walking the dog" are preformed easily."

"this reel is great. its not too expensive, and you get every penny out of it. i love this reel. i am 15 and i have caught a 10 pounder and a few 5 and 6 pounders using this reel. from pulling frogs through lily pads to a double bladed buzzbait, this reel is ideal. I only use this reel. i use it on medium and medium heavy action rods. overall great buy"

"This is a great med/lower price reel for learning bait casting. It shines even more once you are comfortable with the bait cast techniques. It is my first bait caster and has yet to cause me a problem besides that which is my own blatant mess up. I can cast same type of lure I use on spinning setup almost as far on this reel. Pair it with an ugly stick rod (preferably a medium or medium/light 6 foot plus rod) and you have yourself a high quality, durable, forgiving, and fun to use rod/reel combo."

"I have used bait casting reels for over 25 years and this is one of the best that I own. Some people's reviews say that they wish it had the little anti-backlash dial on the left hand side like the Revo SX. Well if you will tighten the spool tensioner knob under the star drag it acts the same way and you don't have to take the reel apart to make adjustments. I am amazed at how small of a turn on the spool tensioner knob can make all of the difference in the world. I absolutely love my Revo. I can out cast friends who use Curado and Citicas. This is an awesome reel but not highly recommended for beginners. If you have some experience, try and you will like it. This is an excellent pitching and flipping reel because it has 22lbs of Jaw breaking Power."

Comparable Reels would include the Shimano Citia, the Phlfeuger Trion and the Bass Pro Qualifer.. I JUST LOVE the awesome pulling power of the REVO S."

"I've had this reel for a year now and have had no problems whatsoever with it. Casts smoothly and with good length. The drag is smooth. Some might complain about the price, but if you're serious about fishing, this is a great price for this caliber of reel. I know I'll buy from Abu Garcia again. The only thing I wish it had was a dial on the left side that controlled the spool brake."

A small & light weight reel,June 4, 2009

"I've had this reel for about two years. I fish for redfish in south Louisiana. I use it to cast the lighter artificial baits I use. It cast the light baits very well. It handles the landing of large redfish with no problem. The drag works fine with even the larger fish over twenty pounds. Because I use it in salt water it has to be cleaned frequently. The bearings are not corrosion resistant bearings. The 5mm X 11mm X 4mm bearing on the spool axil failed and I replaced it with a "ceramic ball" ball bearing. Now it cast better than when new."

"I bought this reel three weeks ago. It is now broke in it's box being sent back. I go fishing 4-5 times a week, (unemlpoyed) and this reel worked great for a while. I got some nice bass, its as smooth and lite as ever. I was being outcasted by my brother's BPS Extreme though. He claims my Revo S was the best reel he's ever fished with, little did he know... After 2 weeks I noticed the eye peice the line goes through started grinding on the track until locked up for good. I'm sure I got a bad one somehow, my Abu catfish reels have done work for years. I ordered a Johny Morris Signature on sale. I will get back to you on that."

"My favorite reels are ABU GARCIA. I've had dozens of em. This reel is nice except for one thing. After fishing I always rinse my reels. ( I fish salt with it too) The problem comes the next time you use it. The thumb bar freezes every time. That first cast requires some real force to push it down. I don't know if the lube is hardening up or what, but it takes several times to loosen it back up. The drag is very smooth."

"I teamed this reel with a 7'8" Stacey King crankin' stick and it's amazing. I didn't know how it would handle the big deep diving crankbaits but I just used it for the first time this past weekend and WOW! It pulled my big Norman DT22 through the water with ease. It's light and very easy to cast and reel. I can throw this setup all day long without fatigue. I would recommend this product to anyone. Matter of fact I would recommend Abu Garcia reels baitcasting or spinning to anyone."

"I have 2 of the revo sx and 3 of the stx and they are perfect! My wife got me to of these on sale for Christmas and I wasn't sure that I was going to like them(they were to replace some older reels) but after 4 months of fishing with them they are worth the money and work as good as the sx!
