narrow head

,
April 3, 2012
By rude
from Western Wisconsin
Advantages: Ease of use, Style/Design, Performs well, Value for money, Quality
"This is a quality jig head that I use with my Berkley 5" Flatback Swimbaits and Yamamoto 5" swimbaits. When a fish eats those baits they always inhale it and coupled with this Jighead I have never missed a hookset or had a fish come un-hooked. It is narrow so it slices through the water nice and lends my swimbaits a great action."

Good jighead

Advantages: Performs well, Value for money, Quality
Disadvantages: only in white or unpainted
"I'm impressed. The design worked well ripping through weeds in MN. I used a pearl 4" Sassy Shad with the 1/2 oz. white. The pike and bass just crushed them. I got more bites than 3 other guys in the boat. The same combo caught pike and bass from shore in SD."

Disadvantages: Appearance, need to offer more colors
"THESE JIG HEADS ARE AWESOME, BUT I WISH THEY CAME IN CHARTREUSE SO THEY WOULD MATCH THE CHARTREUSE BODYS I USE. THEY WORK VERY WELL FOR CATCHING STRIPER."

Could be better

"I do like the overall shape of the jighead but thats about it. I would like to see more colors being offered as well as a better hook. I believe the hook they use is a mustad duratin hook. The problem with these hooks is that they are cheap hooks and bend easily. I found fishing these jigheads would draw bites, but also when I landed the fish, the hook would be bent up a bit. I can only imagine if you get a hold of a solid fish, a pulled hook is possible if it unbends too much. On the west coast companies make some very strong shad jigheads which use a gamakatsu hook that is super strong. I think they should follow suit and use a better hook and offer more colors."

"Give these a try on trout, shad, or any type of minnow type plastic even in freshwater. They cast well, hold plastics well and glide through cover very well. I use these and other types of jigheads to change the baits action and with a little experimentation you will find the right combination that the fish are hitting the best and any good angler knows this changes frequently. Check out the photo, they even come with a free magazine, all you have to do is ask for one."

"These work well with swimbait bodies. We need a wider selection of colors (maybe red, glow, etc.), and maybe a selection that goes a little heavier, but this is all-around good and serviceable tackle."
