Disadvantages: Performance, Quality, Durability, multiple jams, wont cycle when fully loaded
"I bought 2 of these mags and they are absolutely worthless. They claim to hold 25 rounds but if you load more than 10 rounds the spring is stretched to far and they will not raise the round enough to load.They also fit very loose into the gun so even with 10 rounds you still get multiple jams. Save your money and get the actual ruger mags which are a lot better."

"Butler Creek Steel Lips Banana Magazines 25 round magazine is very good 25 round clip, its steel lips and feed seem pretty decent, i had a few jams after 200 rounds. I think its cause of the model, its seems to be loose when inside the rifle, could improve on it by making it tighter and stay in place. main reason for jamming is probably the lose magazine."

"Butler creek has a decent history with the Ruger 10/22 following but if you are going to purchase a high capacity mag from them do yourself a favor and GET THE STEEL LIPS, NOT THE HOT LIPS.
The Hot Lips are an all plastic and polymer design and are junk for lack of a better term.
The Steel Lips are GREAT. I love mine. I wish you could disassemble this mag like Ruger's high-capacity mag or the steel lipped versions made by Tactical Innovations.
The steel lips mag does require some cleaning to ensure smooth ammo feeding but mine has been very dependable. Although it cannot be disassembled for cleaning there is a small hole at the bottom of the mag that allows for residue to pass through when soaked with Rem Oil of other gun oils.
I have cycled full 25 round mags with the Steel Lips in rapid succession and had no issues, but I have also watched Hot Lips fail and break under normal usage."

"This product works great. I recently bought a ruger 10/22 and thought the stock mag ran out of ammo way to quickly and decided to try this. It is a great replacement for just a few more dollars than the stock mag."

"It may look cool, but the spring inside was way too strong. We had to replace the spring because my 10/22 was jamming. It was frustrating and i would not recommend it. It worked well if you only put 15 in, but there was no way that 25 would fit. I would recommend the 10-round magazines because they are just much more reliable."

"Works great with solid point regular velocity or Federal high velocity hollow point. Tends to jam with CCI high velocity HP. My son has 6 clips - 2 taped together at a time. Need to tape them as they tend to come apart. He's put through over a 1,000 rounds of the solid point with very few jams. CCI jams regularly. Overall, pretty cool setup with his Ruger SR22."

"Thought I would do myself a favor and elude the jamming problem found in plastic loading surface clips, NOT!!!!! Steel Top clips jam just as much, single shot till I have only 18 rounds left. Sure not worth the extra money. Ruger Certified clips are all I'll buy or sell now, too many complaints."

"I have two of these mags, and I rarely have a jam, but they do happen from time to time with mine. Some people have had terrible luck with these and some others have never had a jam. I guess it's just a roll of the dice. I wouldn't recommend anything but the factory mags if jamming really lights your fuse."

"I would of give this product a zero but one is as low as it would go. It jams every shot, it wont throw the shell into the chamber. You can only load ten shots for it to work right, sometimes the spring won't come up at all. It don't fit in the gun right."

"i bought two of these because i go through the 10 round mags in a flash, but both 25 round mags jam after every shot. they fit loosely into the gun, and you can jiggle it back and forth and up and down. i would suggest that you save your 20 dollars and buy the butler creek ammo feeder, and a few more 10 round rotary clips, the feeder really cuts back on time wasted trying to manually load your magazines."

"At $20 these clips are worth buying - but don't expect them to be problem free. The Hot Lips reloader works great on these - no loading problems at all.
I purchased 2 of these & both have issues:
1) The magazine sticks too far into the receiver so the red block actually can jam the 10/22 gun action. After inserting, pull back down a tad and it's not too bad.
2) The clips do not fight tightly once inserted - they stick down quite a ways (as expected) but can be easily bumped/jarred about a half-inch forward/backwards to cause alignment issues with the gun slide.
3) Because of issue 2 - they jam an awful lot. I've put just under 2 bricks (1000ish) rounds through these and have yet to get a single 25-round clip to function for 25 shots without a jam.
Still - at $20 they are worth having compared to hand-loading the 10-rnd ruger clips all the time. Jams & all, combined with the speedloader I spend more time shooting & less time reloading than I did with factory ruger clips."

"WITH MY NEW 10/22 I PICKED UP 4 OF THE HOT LIPS MAGS NOT ONE OF THE MAGS WORKED WILL, DOUBLE FEEDS AND JAMS ALL DAY LONG. SWITCHED TO 10 ROUND EAGLE MAGS AND PUT 200 ROUNDS WITH NOT ONE JAM."
