Avid Sportsman,November 13, 2009
By btruss1from East Texas
Disadvantages: Difficult to use
"I bought these in both Marlin 1894 44mag and 1895 GS 45/70. Both rifles have a horrible time cycling the rounds. Hornady regular loads cycle perfectly. These are probably great to shoot but in a lever action rifle if you need a second shot you will miss the game due to horrible cycling."

Best 30/30 bullet...,November 1, 2009
By CurtisOnlinefrom Pennsylvania
Advantages: Durability, Ease of use, Performs well, Quality
"I must say this is the best 30/30 bullet i have ever used for Pennsylvania white tail deer. It has great accuracy for those 80+ yard shots. It also make a huge hole almost like a hollow point. I had previously tried around 5 or 6 different 30/30 bullets manufacturers before sticking with the Hornady LEVERevolution."

best 45-70 bullets,October 2, 2009
By rkimbrelfrom Ruidoso, NM
Advantages: Performs well, Quality
"I have only used these for a 45-70 and they are the best I have found for hat gun. It will drop an elephant in its tracks. I don't recomend shooting a pig in a trap at point blank with it. There wasn't much left"

"I have a few hunting rifles and close to the top is my Marlin 45-70. This ammo is deadly and very accurate. I droper a good nine pointer in his tracks at 125 yards 2008 hunting season. I love it."

Great 44 Ammo!,May 4, 2009
By VernLWfrom TEXAS
Advantages: Ease of use, Performs well, Quality
"I bought this to use in my S&W 629. I use it extensively for deer hunting in both Texas and Indiana, and wanted the best aerodynamics I could get. I'm an old IHMSA metallic silhouette shooter and have taken several deer at 100 yards or more with a dot sighted 44Mag revolver (eyes got too old for the open sights). This ammo has turned me off on reloading my own 44 ammo, it's that good. Accuracy is great, performance as well. I highly recommend it for handgun use. Never tried it in a rifle, but probably good there too."

Very accurate!,March 25, 2009
By Jerebearfrom Covington, GA
"These offer very consisten performance through my 40 year old Winchester Model 94. The recoil isn't bad, maybe a tad less than I expected, and at ranges up to 100 yards, the accuracy is very deadly!"

Not good so far,March 12, 2009
By buckhunter31
"I recently purchased a box of leverevolution ammo in 44 mag for my new Marlin 1894. I bought it cause I have used the same ammo in my Marlin 30-30 with great results. Once I recieved my ammo I loaded my new rifle, slid the action open, and the 44 ammo will not slide into the barrel. I have tried everything I can think of, to no prevail. The only way I can get the ammo to load is to hand load it into the barrel, one at a time. It kinda defeats the purpose of having a lever gun. I am sure they shoot good (haven't tried yet) but kinda dissappointed they won't load properly."

Marlin 1895 SDT 45-70,February 11, 2009
By cane
"Before purchasing 4 boxes of the new "leverevolution", I read many reviews. Many were positive, so I went with the odds. I just purchased a Marlin 1895 SDT limited, and these rounds did not come close to properly cycling. They locked up the lever in the closed postion making it very difficult to eject a round . Now Im stuck with these rounds...Just a FYI so this doesnt happen to you. ==========D Back to a rounded bullet. Otherwise, great looking ammo!"

Best thing to ever happen to the 30/30,February 2, 2009
By bigmouthhunterfrom Tucson, AZ
"This ammo turned my 30/30 into a 300 yard deer gun. It is easily the best ammo for me. I have found it to be very competitively priced and the performance gains from this are amazing. I shot about a 3/4 inch group at 100 yards right after sighting in my scope. Thank you Hornady"

Buffalo Bill wishes he had this ammo,January 26, 2009
By supremeweasel67from Clarksville, Tn
"I tried this ammo this year on both deer and Hog. In my Marlin 30-30, performed flawlessly on deer, farthest shot was 147, and the deer was DRT (Dead Right There). Dropped in it's tracks. Then used in my Marlin 45-70 for Hogs. Impressed my companions. Shot hog at 96 yards, and went 10 yards and fell over DRT. Loads easily, and doesn't scratch up feed gate as other ammo does."

Last ammo I'll ever buy,December 7, 2008
By MDHunterfrom Maryland
"I always used Winchester ammo for my TC Contender 30-30. I recently saw these in the store and thought they would be worth a try. Hornadays are a well rated brand and when I saw the soft tip, I thought even better. I have harvested several deer with the Winchesters and I've also missed several. This season without ever shooting my gun in with the new ammo I have taken 2 shots and have 2 deer. Both of these deer were taken within 100 yards and both dropped in their tracks. This never happened with the Winchesters. There is a decent size exit and although I have not had to track any as of yet, I believe they would leave a decent blood trail. On soft tissue like lung and liver, they do a lot of damage. Even though these are 160gr. they have a lot less recoil than Winchester's 150gr. Overall these are a great load and for not much more money than any other comparable brand. I would reccomend these to anyone. I won't shoot anything but these ever again!!"

"I for one, have always been the type to believe there could not be that much difference in a brand of ammuntion. But after losing two deer that was knocked down, with my 45-70. I swapped and tried the highly recommened Hornady ammo. With two dropped in thier tracks this year with the Hornady brand, its made a believer out of me that there must be a difference."

Awesome Ammo!,October 17, 2008
By SageJpfrom Michigan
"Purchased this ammo after reading all the reviews and decided to try it in my Marlin 336 chambered in 30/30 ammo. Shot my rifle at 100 yards and it shot 5 inches higher then my remington ammo so I adjusted my scope and shot a 3 shot group that cloverleafed each other. I moved up to 50 yards, thinking it would shot high, but it was still right on. I'll be hunting deer with it in late November."

New life to an old gun,October 7, 2008
By Tinofrom Vernon ,Texas
"I read about these hornady bullets and thought sure, then later my best friend takes me to the range and shows me how good they are. Well a week later I take my 35 year old (my first rifle) Marlin 336 out and with these 160gr bullets hit 1.25 inch spread at 200 yds. I will use nothing else, it is as if my .30-30 is a new and different gun."

Rock Solid Ammo,September 14, 2008
By ctonsmitty
"I went to the range w/ a .30-30 that was sighted in with 150 gr standard soft pts. I then shot Leverlution and it shot 9" high at 100 yards. I was quickly able to get it 1" high. I then shot it at 50 yards and the bullet hit 1/4" high. The bullet is not only hotter than standard soft pts, but shoots flatter. Two weeks later, I shot a 175 lb hog at 80 yards. The bullet placement was just behind the shoulder & the exit hole was about 2". Blood was everywhere and the hog went 10 yards before expiring. I am liking the Leverlution. Not only does it shoot good at the range, but will effectively perform on game."

New Gun,June 21, 2008
By AllOutdoorsfrom TN
"If you have been looking for a reason to get out your lever gun, this is it. It will be like shooting a new gun. This ammo shoots exceptionally well out of my 35 Rem. On bags this ammo produced 1 inch groups from 100 yards. This is better than any of the other ammo I have tried. Penetration is equal to the Rem 200gr core-loks i have used for years, with more energy and flatter trajectory. If you want to increase your range of your lever gun, you need to try this ammo."
