Excellent Buy,February 4, 2009
By overdelfrom Middletown, DE
"I bought a traditions pursuit pro xlt thumbhole/nickel with cva starter kit from basspro with my christmas money primarily used as a slug gun/muzzy since you can use a muzzleloader during shotgun season in DE. What a deal i got. I put a scope on it and after 5 shots had it shooting 1.5" groups at 100yds. with 295 gr. bullet and two 50gr. 777 pellets. Shot two doe with it also, one at 75 yds and the other at 130! I love shooting this gun. I even got my brother and friends into muzzleloading now."

Grade A Quality for Less,October 11, 2007
By LuckyInKentuckyfrom Owensboro, KY
"I purchased the Thumbhole Realtree Hardwoods stock with Nickel Barrel in 50 cal. . This is one of the best purchases I have recently made. This rifle easily compares to the Thompson Center Omega and CVA models that are priced much higher.
With open sights at 100 yds. this rifle shoots a 1/2" group with 125 gr. of Pyrodex, and a 50 cal. - 300 gr. Aerotip Platinum Powerbelt bullet. With the rifle I received shooting the 150 max. load tended to put me around 1 1/4" groups so I stepped it down from the 3- 50 gr. pellets to measuring the powder myself with a powder measurer and loose Pyrodex powder. Each rifle is different, so I suggest you tinker with the charge amount to get the most accurate load that your rifle prefers."

"This is a great gun i bought it about a month ago and it's great!!!! It is comfortable to hold up to your shoulder and shoot. It is my first muzzleloader and i have shot some other ones and this one is the best one i have ever shot. Shoots good at 100 yards the sights are easy to see through. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a muzzleloader because it is great for the price!!!."

Traditions Pursuit XLT,November 26, 2006
By MuskyHunterfrom Byron MN
"After doing some research, I found the Traditions XLT was the gun for me. Priced right, comfortable to hold, and lightweight. It was a breeze to sight in with the already installed fluorescent fiber optic sights. The Traditions XLT has the great look of guns that cost twice as much. It is a great gun that is accurate and fun to shoot (which gives you more confidence in the field). One fault would be the design of the breech plug, it does not have the hex head, and requires a unique removal tool. If the tool was lost or forgotten, you would not be able to clean the gun. This can be overcome by purchasing an aftermarket plug with the hex head design. I am extremely happy with this new addition to my gun safe. Thanks Traditions."

Pursuit XLT Pro Thumbhole,October 23, 2006
By Tom93from Prince Frederick, MD
"This Traditions muzzleloader is one fine piece of work compared to others that cost twice as much! -Fit and finish are superb! The thumbhole grip is not oversized or awkward. It fits small to large hands pretty well. -Considering how heavy these type weapons usually are it is balanced pretty well. -I had this thing sighted in 1" high @ 100 yds in 6 shots, shooting 1.25" groups with 100 grains (Two, 50 gr pellets of Triple 7) pushing a 245 Gr CVA Powerbelt. -The ease of cleaning this break-open weapon vs a standard in-line type is less than half the time to get it back to new looking condition. I really like that part! I think it took me 15 minutes total.
There are two areas in my opinion as a purchaser that could stand to be improved, but in no way affect the shootability of this weapon. They are. 1. The hammer. It could be made flatter so that see thru mounts are not required when mounting a scope.
2. The barrel. If it were 1" shorter you would not have to turn the muzzle towards the ground to remove the ram rod. There just isn't enought to grab ahold of after reloading w/ 100 grains. If you use 150 grains there would be no problem in this area.
I am pleased with the shootability of this product! It can drive tacks with the best of them!
I am sure if you buy this model you will love it as much as I do! I'm Glad I bought it!!"

Pursuit Pro XLT GREAT Muzzleloader!!!!!!!!,September 24, 2006
By WVhunterfrom West Virginia
"I wanted to buy a new inline muzzleloader, I looked at many types of guns and read alot of reviews, I researched for a couple of weeks. I finally bought the Traditions XLT, and man am I pleased!!!!!! It shoots great, easy to clean, shoulders and feels great when shooting. I mounted a nice scope to this gun and had it sighted in and cutting holes in five shots. It shoots just as good as many higher priced guns and the cratsmanship is wonderful. The only dislike was I had to get a set of see-thru mounts to put on the gun, to keep the scope from hitting the hammer, but this was minor. If you are looking to purchase a new muzzleloader, you owe it to youself to give the XLT a second look. In my opion you won't go wrong here. Save yourself some cash, this gun is an excellant value for the new or experienced hunter. Can't wait till deer season."
