The only thing I need in my tackle box,July 27, 2009
By OldFaithfulPhil
Advantages: Performs well
"I fish Yellowstone lake almost exclusively. This thing kills them here. Cuttthroat and Lake Trout can't leave it alone. Gold with red dots, regardless of water conditions. Amazing."

Best Trout Lure,May 29, 2009
By posersheikfrom California
Advantages: Performs well, Value for money
"I first used this lure back in 1993. Some friends of mine went to Yellowstone and caught a ton of trout on these things. When they came back they brought extra for me. I spent the two summers catching more trout than I ever dreamed of in lakes around Tahoe.
This is a must have and always my go to trout lure. I have had the best luck with the gold, silver, and black with yellow dots. Tie it directly to the end of the line with no leader or swivel, cast, and real at a slow to medium speed.
The most important thing I learned with this lure is to always have extra so that when I lost one, I could keep catching fish."

Cutthroat caught out of Yellowstone Lake using a Jake's
Advantages: Ease of use, Quality, Style/Design
"I worked this past summer in Yellowstone National Park and bought a few of these before I left. They are not lying when they said that this was the number 1 lure in Yellowstone. Catching cutthroat trout was a breeze with this lure (gold with red dots).
I brought the lures back east with me after the summer and tried them on some lakes here. The browns and rainbows here in NC love this thing."

"Good spoon. Slow retrieve, I have caught alot of trout. Rainbows really bite this spoon. I use the silver mostly. The erratic action is effective. Recommended~ try one."

it works,April 19, 2008
By eastandwestcoastfisher
"A friend told me about this lure. So I picked up a couple at bass pro in so-cal. I have had good luck with it for trout, and have cought two sturgeons one about 2lbs and one 3/4lb. I have also hooked into one that i could not turn. It kept going like a slow moving train. I have not tried for sturgeon, but I might have to get some heaver tackle now."

My favorite go-to lure,August 7, 2007
By Gaardvark
"If I had to rely on only one lure for the rest of my days, it would definitely be a Jake's. Catches when nothing else will. Try the gold with red dots if you can only buy one."

LOST BUT NOW FOUND,August 7, 2007
By BASSPROWANTABE
"TWENTY-FOUR YEARS AGO MY FAMILY WENT TO YELLOWSTONE AND PICKUP A COUPLE OF THESE LURES. THEY WERE BIG AND UGLY. WHEN MY FATHER FIRST GAVE THEM TO US I THOUGHT IT WAS THE LOCALS PLAYING A JOKE ON US. AFTER FISHING WITH THESE LURES AND CAUGHTING CUTTHROATS ALL DAY LONG. I BECAME A BELIEVER. WHEN GOT BACK HOME COULD NOT FIND THIS LURE AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT I HAVE FOUND THEM AGAIN. FIRST THING I DID WAS EMAIL MY FATHER THAT I HAD FOUND THEM."

worth its weight,February 3, 2007
By lowrider79
"I first used this item in Yellowstone Park. Caught to many trout to count. Had a blast. Works well with bass also. I never leave home without a couple in the box. Brass and Chrome work the best. Great for trolling, rivers and streams, and stuborn pond bass."
