Nice product - but short battery life

,

By JCWHEEL
Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Performs well
Disadvantages: battery consumption
"This collar works very well. My only complaint - the battery dies quickly and requires recharging - and the recharge takes like 12 hours, so you need to plan ahead.
It's very rugged, and my dog has gone into ponds with it, so the waterproofing is important."

Advantages: Ease of use, Durability, Performs well, Value for money, Quality, good deal and waterproof!!!
"I have a Lab hunting dog, she was always easy to train but had some bad habits!!! this collar has been a "real deal" training enhancer that has polished my dog "Jett" to a fine hunting partner, She just turned a year old last weekend on opening day in California and she performed flawlessly. I purchased the collar in June and started working her with it and she was schooling dogs out there that have been doing this for some time!!!!"

"I have two dogs (weimaraner & jack russell) which both love to run , but within a week of following the training dvd and working with the dogs they both return without much prompting. The ability to control two dogs with one controller is a big plus and the range is good compared to other collars I have had . As for the durability of the product only time will tell but I don't foresee any problems"

"I have used this product through 2 hunting seasons and training several days per week in all types of weather without any problems. I like the small size for my Brittany & it works well out to normal hunting range.
Battery life is great, I go a week or two for training and have never had a problem during a long hunting day.
My dog is not a swimmer, but does enjoy playing in deep water in the summer-no problems.
I would definitely buy another one when this one give out.

"I read the other reviews about the bad experience that other people have had with this collar, but I have had very good results with mine. I have not had any problems with mine not holding a charge.
I bought the collar for my springer spaniel and it has worked great. I am a beginner when it comes to dog training and I followed the advice from the trainers on the video and my dog has done very well. I am very satisified with my purchase.
This is a very good training collar for the beginner.

Does not hold a charge

,

Disadvantages: Quality
"Just as with the other review, I bought this collar last spring and it no longer holds a charge, at all. It will not work even after charging it.
However, I have an older collar (different model) for another dog, made by the same company and it works great"

working well so far

"After charging for the recommended first 24 hours, I used this product for the first time tonight. So far it is working as promised. I have a Lab / Border Collie mix who is a very smart and well behaved dog. He responds to all commands while in the home and while on his lead. However, even though he knows its wrong, he will often run out of the front door when it is open and unattended. After using the collar for ten minutes in his first training session he has learned that he can not run out the door. Infact he will not go near the door when open without being told to do so. This has only been the first night, but after seeing the first nights training I have very high hopes. The collar has eight power settings but I have not gone above level three and there was plenty of stimulation to give a correction. (Note: I tried the collar on my leg prior to using it on the dog to determine this level, I wouldnt use this on my four legged friend with out knowing what it was like for myself) I have not had this product long enough to know if other users findings of lack of battery power is true for me, but I would recommend it up to this point."

Not worth it.....

"I purchased this collar as my first electronic collar for my dog. It seemed to work great at first and I was completely haapy and satisfied with it. Then slowly it began not to hold a charge. I brought it back and exchanged it for another new one thinking it was faulty. The exact thing happened again. This time I contacted Sport Dog and they wer very helpful and replaced it with a third one....it did the same thing as the other two. Don't waste your time with this unit. It is not worth it. You truly do get what you pay for as the saying goes. Spend the extra money and go for one of the more well known brands."
