rod works well...but a little heavy!

Disadvantages: a bit heavy

"Recently purchased the 8'6" ugly stick. have fished it 6 times.
Has a good response when casting and fighting fish.

Just wish the rod was about half the weight."

Great for Steelhead

"I use Ugly stick exclusively for all my spinning rods and have used them for years (sorry I don't use Ugly Stick for my fly rods so I can't review those). Two years ago I bought the 8'6" Steelhead Ugly Stick and couldn't be happier. I use it on the Salmon River in Pulaski for Steelhead as well as for Walleye and Bass in the black river and other places in NY. I've also used it for trout in Maine. Sensitivity is good and casting ability is great, especially with the additional leverage for the length. Ugly Stick is tough and reliable, in more than 25 years of using ugly sticks I have only broke one which had shipping damage I did not see until my first fishing trip with it and had no problem getting it replaced for free. I highly recommend this product whether you are new to the sport or experienced and especially for those who travel a lot like I do, you can't get a more durable product."
